LEKI Jannu Women’s trekking poles offer high-performance features at a budget-friendly price. Easy-to-use external locking mechanisms and ergonomic grips equip the poles for varied terrain.
The LEKI Jannu Women’s Trekking Poles are the perfect option for any traveler, hiker or backpacker who is looking for stable, reliable performance in a lightweight option and a pole that is very, very easy to use. So we will go through all the features and just talk about all the different things that make this pole so great.
You have got durable, but lightweight aluminum construction here. And the aluminum trekking poles in LEKI’s line are backed by their 100 percent guarantee. So they are guaranteed from shaft breakage. If one of these pole sections were to break, LEKI would re-place it or repair it. So that just speaks to the quality and the durability of these poles.
And with the three sections here you get a pretty small pack sizes. So this is a telescoping trekking pole. And they achieve that with LEKI’s Speed Lock 2 locking mechanisms. I am a really big fan of these locks. They are an external lock and they couldn't be any easier to use. Basically all you need to do is flick that open with your thumb, a nice lever right here, adjust it to your preferred height and then close that lever. It doesn't require a lot of force or a lot of strength to open and close this lock, but once it is locked it is very, very secure. Same thing on the bottom here. You open that lock, adjust it out and close it shut. There is a little screw here on the outside of this lock that allows you to make mi-nor adjustments if need be, so that is really well designed and you can make minor adjustments to it on the trail if you need to. But I found that you don’t really need to make adjustments to that. You can just open and close the locks very, very easily.
There is a lot of adjustability with this pole as well. So this is going to adjust from 90 centimeters all the way up to 125 centimeters. So this being a women’s pole it is a little bit shorter. So you have a smaller range of adjustability there. But this is going to accommodate most hikers here.
If I would want to adjust it to 125 centimeters I would adjust the top section to 125, go down to the bottom and also adjust it to 125. So you match the top and the bottom sections.
If you are hiking on uneven terrain or if you know you are going to be hiking up hill or down hill for a long period of time, you can make minor adjustments with the top to make your pole shorter or longer. And I have found these locks really easy to use in that way.
Going up to the grip of these poles, you do have LEKI’s AERGON soft rubber grips. And the thing I like about rubber grips is it is very, very durable. So it is going to last a really long time. You get a lot of grip here so your hands aren’t going to slide around on there. And they are really easy to handle. The top part of this grip is an egg shape. So if you do want to palm the top, if you are going downhill and you need to be on top of the pole you can palm it that way and there is even a little bit of dimpling there and it gives a nice grip on top.
You have really nice woven, soft strap here. And the strap is also very lightweight. It is really easy to adjust here. So all you have to do is pull up on this top part of the strap, make an adjustment and then lock that closed. So that is going to take the strain off of your wrists as you are hiking. It provides a really nice cradle there and fits really nice in your hands. And since that strap is so soft, it is not going to irritate your skin.
Going down to the tip of the trekking pole, you have got LEKI’s carbide flex tips. And basically what that means is the tip at the bottom of the pole is designed to flex a little bit in case you were to get them stuck between rocks or something like that. The tip is going to take all of that abrasion. The tip is going to take all of that pressure, rather than the trekking pole itself. This is a replaceable piece, so you can, after years of use you can re-place the carbide end here with another tip. It is just a press fit tip. So after years of use that really comes in handy. And here you have a small performance basket. So this basket is removable. There is threads on this tip. So you can take this basket off and put on a snow basket if you need to.
With LEKI’s excellent guarantee on the shaft sections of these poles, you know you are getting a very durable pole that is going to last you a long time. It is the perfect option for any backpacker who is looking for stability with that heavy pack, a traveler who is looking to use this day to day use, or just day hiking.
