The Marmot Leadville Jacket is a softshell that can do it all. Using a combination of GORE WINDSTOPPER and Marmot M2 softshell fabrics, it provides a comfortable, breathable feel while remaining windproof and water-resistant.
Lightweight weather protection in a versatile piece, the Marmot Men’s Leadville Jacket is a windproof soft shell designed for milder temperatures or high aerobic activities in colder climates. Let’s take a closer look at its features.
This jacket is constructed with Marmot’s M2 soft shell. It is a stretch woven soft shell fabric offering really good weather resistance and wind resistance. It does have a nice bit of stretch to it, as I suggested, so it gives you good mobility in those areas where you will need it. It does have a gore wind stopper liner in that, so it is a completely windproof material. Now it is not waterproof, but it is highly water resistant. However, with the wind stopper, you get completely wind protection throughout the entire garment, so it gives you good protection on those, you know, windier days, maybe higher elevations where that wind might be cold and you don’t want that to penetrate through to the inner layers. So that is some nice materials in play on the Leadville Jacket.
Some of the features that this jacket has are a venting back panel. So it has got nice wicking panel in the back to pull the sweat and moisture away and help with the breathability of the garment. It does have also venting side panels, so a similar construction there to help with those high heat areas and it pulls that heat away. We do have some Velcro adjustment at the cuffs so you can really cinch those down and dial in the proper fit around the hands.
We do have a nice full zipper in the front that comes up to a nice garage at the top here. So you get some next to skin comfort with that zipper garage.
As far as pockets go, we have a nice chest pocket here, small, napoleon style chest pocket. You can put some smaller items in there. You have got two zippered hand pockets here. So if you need to, you can zip them up, have some low profile layering or, you know, you have got those pockets if you need them. And on the inside we also have one zippered pocket as well. So there is a nice zippered pocket on the inside, again, for some of those smaller materials that you may want to hang closer to the body.
We have got some further adjustment down low. There are two draw cords right at the front next to the zipper, so in the event that you need to really tighten down the hem, you can cinch those draw cords down and get a nice hem fit so the jacket doesn’t ride up on you at all. And, again, to enhance the fit a little bit more and allow for that mobility, this jacket is constructed with Marmot’s angel wing movement so you get really good movement in the shoulders in combination with that stretch fabric. So really good movement overall with the Leadville Jacket.
The fit of this jacket is fairly athletic. It is a nice, closer fitting garment. So, like I said, it is meant for those high aerobic activates where, you know, weather protection is going to be a necessity, but it also needs to be breathable, so relatively slim fit here. I am wearing a medium. I normally wear mediums in most garments, so this one is fitting me pretty tight. I have just got a t-shirt on underneath. I could probably fit one low profile base layer, but this would definitely just be my shell garment as it is meant to be.
So relatively snug fit with the Leadville Jacket.
So there you have it. It is the Marmot Men’s Leadville Jacket. It is a great mobile, versatile piece for cooler climates or high aerobic activities in colder temperatures.
