Employing an ultra-lightweight and extremely collapsible design, Komperdell Carbon Expedition Vario 4 poles are built for backcountry and high-peak demands. A hybrid carbon and aluminum design provides reliability at a lower-than-average weight.
Rather than utilizing a traditional telescoping design, the Carbon Expedition Vario 4 actually folds down to minimize its packed size. Measuring just 17.7" in length when fully collapsed, these poles can be stowed safely inside most packs. When extended, the upper carbon section and three lower aluminum sections provide surprisingly rigid support and integrated, easy-to-use external locking mechanisms provide a usable adjustability range of 45.3"-57".
Foam grips serve as secure hand holds and integrated straps relieve stress on your wrists. A short extension allows the poles to be held lower on the shaft, thus eliminating the need to shorten the pole every time you encounter a steep slope.
Carbon Expedition Vario 4 poles are equipped for alpine and winter use with a unique basket/tip construction that allows the basket to adjust for slopes and varied terrain. The Tungsten/Carbide flex tips are designed to flex if the tip of the pole should get stuck, helping to protect the shafts from structural damage.
