Ideal for cost-conscious backpackers, the Kelty Trail Ridge 2 tent delivers reliable 3-season performance at a budget-friendly price. It offers easy set-up, room for two, and provides excellent ventilation in hot and humid conditions. An included footprint delivers bolstered protection and adds value.
Hubbed aluminum poles give the tent a sturdy frame and color-coded clip construction makes it easy to identify which pole goes where. The freestanding design allows you to pitch the Trail Ridge 2 and then move it around your campsite to find the optimum position, eliminating an uncomfortable night's sleep over an exposed root or rock. Stakes are included to secure the tent in place.
The Trail Ridge 2 provides 34 square feet of interior space and a 43” overhead peak height Internal storage pockets and an included gear loft stow gear and maximize available floor space. Two integrated vestibules offer a total of 20 square feet of additional exterior storage space for wet or muddy shoes and gear. A light-diffusing design on one of the interior pockets lets you transform a headlamp (not included) into an interior light.
A full mesh canopy combines with venting in the rainfly to provide great airflow and prevent condensation build-up on the interior of the Trail Ridge 2. The PU-coated polyester rainfly offers full coverage and keeps the interior of the tent dry during wet weather. Unique roll-back connection points allow you to stargaze from the interior of the tent on clear nights. Strategic construction lifts the taped floor seams up off the ground, eliminating potential for leaks. The included footprint further protects the Kelty Trail Ridge 2 against ground water, roots and rocks.

Real Customer Reviews
- Outstanding in every way!
Likes: Performs exactly as advertised. (Great video review by BE!) Lots of interior room; great air flow; door zippers work freely and smoothly.
Dislikes: Both shock-corded supports make it a handful to breakdown. In particular, the short sections snap back together while stowing in their bag if you don't have a rubber band handy.
- Quality product
Likes: Being able to see the stars while using this tent made it really special. Made of quality materials and easy setup due to color-coding. I like the pockets and having doors on each side of the tent was super convenient. Plenty of space for two average sized females and packs. Feels very sturdy; we had it set up on a VERY windy beach one night and felt comfortable that it would remain standing.
Dislikes: I think it could be slightly easier to hook up the rain fly. It isn't terribly difficult, but I just think it could be more intuitive.
- Set up was easy. I love the new twist clips, my 9 year old son basically set this up by himself.
Likes: Ease of set up,retracting poles, headlamp pockets made it very bright inside. 2 days of rain and not a drip inside.
Dislikes: The drawstring to tighten the fly did not hold as tightly as I would like.
- Nice and roomy
Likes: Bigger than I thought.. in a good way. Lots of room. The star gazer faintly is cool
Dislikes: A touch heavy for one person.. but it's a 2 person so ill
- Good value for the money.
Likes: Color coded components for easy setup.
Dislikes: Vague instructions.
- Love it
Likes: Easy to set up. Great mesh walls with stargazing feature. Packs into a small space. DRY! Watch the video of Becky describe this tent.
Dislikes: Not a darn thing.
- Great tent
Likes: This tent has a good amount of usable space thanks to the vertical side walls as compared to previous 2 person tents I have owned. I have plenty of room to store my riding gear inside of the tent in addition to sleeping gear. The tent packs to the dimensions as advertised which makes storage on the motorcycle a breeze. The ability to roll up the rain fly on one end as well as the entire length of both sides is welcome for ventilation. Glad I got this one.
- Seems like a good backpacking tent for the price
Likes: I like the size, the roominess inside, the weight, the square package (fits well in my pack) the small tent poles
I am very happy with the tent at the price point.
Dislikes: The tent pole that goes across the top to hold the sides vertical seems to be a little long, it is hard to get it on and looks like it is stressing the material. We will have to see how it holds up in the long run
- Put Together Well
Likes: Low weight, compact, great design
Dislikes: Needs to be a bit more durable, damages easily
