Designed to work with Kelty’s TraiLogic gear collection, the TN3 backpacking tent delivers innovative 3-season performance in a compact and lightweight 3-person package that sets up and breaks down quickly and easily, packing down small and flat into the included Tent Cube to save space in your backpack.
Three DAC Pressfit aluminum poles give the TN3 a rigid frame, and color-coded clip construction makes it easy to identify which pole goes where. The poles are additionally compact-folding (with each section being 14 inches in length) to easily fit into the breathable mesh Tent Cube tent storage bag when packed. The freestanding design of the TN3 allows you to pitch the tent and then move it around your campsite to find the optimum position, eliminating an uncomfortable night's sleep over an exposed root or rock.
The TN3 provides 39.5 square feet of interior space and a generous 43" overhead peak height. Internal storage pockets provide places to stow essential gear and maximize available floor space. Two doors provide convenient exit and entry while dual vestibules offer a combined 22 square feet of additional exterior storage space for wet or muddy shoes and gear.
The No See Um Mesh tent body offers maximum airflow and nighttime star views even with the Stargazing Fly attached. A half-on-half-off design allows the 40D Sil Nylon rainfly to be fully rolled down and secured from inside the tent at the first sign of foul weather. The floor is constructed of durable 70D Nylon with a 3000mm PU treatment that further ensures waterproof protection. Kelty's patented ArcEdge construction lifts the taped floor seams up off the ground eliminating potential for leaks. An additional feature is noiseless zipper pulls on both the tent body and fly.
An optional footprint (sold separately) can bolster the Kelty TN3 tent against ground water, roots and rocks.

Real Customer Reviews
- Really wanted to like it
Likes: This tent is easy to set up. The front door is huge, making getting in and out a breeze. The vestibules are large and the stargazing fly is a personal favorite that allows for maximum airflow and maximum privacy. The color coding and the clear window are nice touches. The amount of room you get for such a low weight and low price are excellent. The price and sturdiness mean that you can you it for backpacking and car camping.
Dislikes: This tent was significantly shorter than the listed specs. Even without a sleeping pad, my 5' 8" spouse was touching the tent walls at both ends. If the specs had been accurate, this would have been one of my favorite tents.
- BEST TENT!
Likes: Best tent I've owned! I love how EASY and FAST it took me to set up this tent. Color coded sides helped a whole lot. I was planning to purchase the 2 person tent but I was afraid it might be too small and wanted extra space for my bags and gears to place on the side. The 3 person tent was PERFECT for my partner and I. We had enough space for our backpacks, not too much just the right amount of space. I definitely recommend this if you're going backpacking as well.
Dislikes: Bought the footprint TN3 and it didn't match the size of the 3 person tent. It was smaller than the size of the tent.
- Light weight. The setup and tear down are very easy. Good features.
Likes: This tent setup is so easy. Love the tent poles. The extra footprint fits perfectly and the star gazing fly is very nice. Tear down is also easy. This seems to be a very well made tent.
Dislikes: I'm 6' tall and my head and feet touch if I stretch out, so it could be a few inches longer. More storage pockets would be welcome too. We did also purchase the extra storage.
- Nice tent
Likes: Easy to set up
Light for its size
Great for stargazing
Dislikes: But too large for solo backpacking
Likes: The Kelty TN3 is extremely easy to setup and a great weight for a 3 person tent.
It held up well in 20+ mph winds with heavy rain.
The stargazing aspect was a great added feature.
Dislikes: No gear loft included
Likes: Fantastic tent. Exchanged this one after trying out a Jack Rabbit SL4. Wanted a roomy tent for stargazing and this tent has it all. The fly roll-up system works great. Quality tent and superior design in every way. Love how tight the fly fits with the small, strategically placed velcro "guy-line" ties attach the fly to the poles. I went for the entire Kelty Trail-Logic system (tent, PK50 pack, SB35 bag) based on very knowledgeable customer service advice from Leon at BackCountry Edge and I could not be happier.
Dislikes: Nothing. Couldn't be happier with the purchase and design. Would be a little tight for 3 people. My personal opinion is to get this one if you are looking for a 2 person tent with a little extra room. It's lightweight for a 3 person tent.
