The award-winning Kelty Salida three-season tent series now includes a 1-person option ideal for solo backpackers on a budget. The Salida 1 is easy to pitch and well ventilated. For the price the Salida 1 is tough to beat.
With a minimum weight of 3 pounds 6 ounces and an interior volume of 20 square feet the Salida 1 provides a respectable space to weight ratio. A 6.5 square foot vestibule provides the Salida 1 with additional exterior space for stowing gear and muddy boots. Sidewall vents and mesh fabric used on the tent body provides excellent ventilation for combating condensation build-up and keeping you cool during warm weather. Internal storage pockets and gear-loft loops create out of the way space for stowing small items like a headlamp or trail maps.
The Salida 1 uses color coded clip construction that eliminates the hassle of feeding poles through cumbersome tent sleeves. Just slide the shock-corded aluminum pole sections together and attach the clips. The freestanding design of the Salida 1 allows you to pitch the tent and then move it around your campsite to find the optimum position eliminating an uncomfortable night's sleep over an exposed root or rock.
Kelty's ArcEdge construction lifts taped floor seams up off the ground preventing water seepage around the floor and wall seams of the Salida 1.
An optional footprint (sold separately) further protects the Kelty Salida 1 against ground water roots and rocks.

Real Customer Reviews
- Excellent tent for the price
Likes: Fits in my 30L Pannier making it a good choice for my bike tours. Easy set up and take down. Pretty light weight. Good colors that blend into the background in most places.
Dislikes: None really.
- Like this tent.
Likes: Nice. Smaller and lighter than my Kelty 2 man.
- Perfect for cycling
- Well made for the price
Likes: Standard crossing pole design common to my Kelty and Eureka tents, so no learning curve. Good height allows you to sit up fully inside. Internal ceiling loops allow limited clothes drying. The door is huge and the vestibule will hold backpack and boots; you can even prop your pack up against the pole under the vestibule. Good performance on rainy autumn test run.
Dislikes: It seems heavy, almost as much as my 2-person, but I think that just comes with the fact that a solo tent still needs two poles and all the zippers and fittings as a 2- or 3-person tent. If you don't stake the corners at the poles, the tent may slack a little overnight. It comes with 4 guy lines for the sides of the fly, but you'll need to make more for the wind restraints that connect outside of the poles.
