The Kelty Redcloud 65 Junior internal frame backpack offers “adult” performance in youth-friendly dimensions. It also features Kelty’s innovative PerfectFIT suspension. Heavy-hauling load capability, convenient access points, and an array of features combine to equip the pack for multi-day backpacking trips.
The PerfectFIT suspension system provides accurate on-body size adjustment, allowing you to customize your fit in seconds. With PerfectFIT, gone are the days of taking measurements and trying on various pack sizes in a gear shop to determine the best fit for your particular body (or ordering a pack online that may or may not fit once you’ve received it). The pack’s PerfectFIT accommodates torso lengths ranging from 14-18 inches. A single lightweight aluminum support stay and an HDPE framesheet deliver trustworthy support. Hex mesh on the padded backpanel and waistbelt provides excellent cushioning and ventilation. Load lifter straps relieve stress on your shoulders and an adjustable sternum strap positions the shoulder straps across the chest to prevent chafing under the arms and on the shoulders.
The top-loading pack also incorporates an innovative design on the lowest portion of the packbag that provides wide access through the bottom of pack. This feature makes it much easier to get a sleeping bag, clothes or other gear in and out of the Redcloud 65 Junior than is often the case with the compartment access on many packs of comparable carrying capacity. A zippered front panel offers additional quick access to your gear from the front of the pack. The lid of the Redcloud 65 Junior can be removed entirely for use as a sleek sling pack. A large stretch pocket on the front of the pack is perfect for keeping additional layers at the ready.
Additional features include a front zippered pocket, zippered side pockets, integrated compression straps, a carry handle, ice-axe loops, and dual mesh water bottle pockets. A lined interior pocket and built-in tube exit make the pack hydration system (sold separately) compatible.

Real Customer Reviews
- Recommend for growing preteen. I bought this bag for my 13 year old scout. He needed a nice backpack for Philmont next summer. After much research we chose this one.
Likes: Adjustable, grows with kid. Many different compartments. Super padded for comfort. Love the breakaway day pack. We also bought the Kelty Cosmic sleeping bag, lightweight and fits perfectly in the intended compartment.
Dislikes: Nothing yet, oh that it doesn’t come with a rain cover like the youth osprey pack:( Only negative.
- Great pack!
Likes: My son will be transitioning from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts in the spring, so we went ahead and got him a pack for the future. The adjustable fit is great on my boy, and he loves all the features: place for tent poles, compartments for small things, mesh for wet swimsuit, easy access to everything, and the sling pack. The whole family went to Cub Scout camp and the sling pack was the big winner of the week: big enough to hold his water, some snacks, projects from the various activities, and swim gear. He never once complained about carrying his stuff around. When it was time to go we wanted to just BUG OUT, so everyone crammed their stuff into their packs and we bolted. He said his pack was heavy, but still easy to carry. All the organization features make me want to ditch my ancient, heavy pack and get an adult Kelty like his.
Dislikes: Nothing, really.
Likes: We have been looking for a pack with a hip belt that will fit our slender, but tall teenager. This back has a good amount of storage and it looks like it will grow with our son. Time will tell how durable it is.
- Very good pack
Likes: I bought this pack for my son because I have the adult version of the pack. I had a hard time finding a pack that fits his small frame and this pack fit him well. Overall it has all the features I like in the adult pack. I am very pleased with the fit and function
Dislikes: The colors!!! I don't know what has gotten into Kelty this year but the colors make me want to vomit! The pack is great but the loud blue and the teenage mutant ninja green on my adult version need to go!
