An innovative option for backpackers who love gazing at the stars, the Kelty Horizon 2 tent utilizes a unique hybrid design to balance weight and durability while providing versatility to quickly and easily peel back the rainfly to watch the night sky.
Hubbed aluminum poles give the Horizon 2 a sturdy, freestanding structure. Strategically shortened sections enable the poles to stash inside a cubed storage sack with backpack-friendly 15” x 12” x 3” dimensions.
The tent provides 28 square feet of cozy interior space. Internal storage pockets provide places to stow essential gear and maximize available floor space while a front vestibule offers 9 square feet of streamlined exterior storage space for wet or muddy shoes and gear. Wall pockets provide a place to store items above the floor to maximize space.
Instead of having a traditional tent body and separate rainfly design, the Horizon 2 utilizes a hybrid design that combines the two. A mesh front door and a mesh ceiling provide ventilation and a PU-coated panel that provides the ceiling with weatherproof protection can be rolled back entirely in clear conditions to provide full view of the night sky. That same material extends in front of the door to create the vestibule and has a dual zipper design that enables you to use trekking poles (not included) to pitch it like an awning. The floor is constructed of durable 70D Nylon with a 1800mm PU treatment that further ensures waterproof protection. An optional footprint (sold separately) can bolster the floor of the tent against ground water, roots and rocks.

Real Customer Reviews
- Impressed with the quality
Likes: Haven't got the chance to use this tent yet but it was super easy to set up in my living room. I'm very impressed with the quality and light weight. Should be perfect for stargazing in Northern Michigan.
Dislikes: On the smaller side will probably have to store gear in the vestibule.
- Stellar light tent
Likes: Single layer design is easy to set-up, I can solo pitch it in about 2 minutes. Color coding makes setting up in the dark fairly easy as well. With the top open this thing is A+ amazing in the summer, the next best thing to sleeping outside (except with no bugs).
Dislikes: If you want to use the door canopy, you have to bring trekking poles (or find a stick that magically fits the profile. I don't typically bring poles on trips that are less than 10 miles.
- Lightweight with creative features
Likes: Lighter than most tents in the same price range, creative hybrid between single and double layer. Useful canopy makes the space feel bigger.
Dislikes: One door, and minimal footprint makes it hard for two people to use. Should try it out with two people before committing to a long trip with someone.
