The Kelty Gunnison 2.3 backpacking tent offers an excellent feature set at an affordable price. With 2 doors, 2 vestibules and internal storage features, the Gunnison 2.3 is a whole lot of tent for the money you'll spend.
The Gunnison 2.3 provides 30 square feet of interior space and boasts 2 large doors and 2 vestibules. Offering 23 square feet of combined exterior storage space, the dual vestibules (one is 15 square feet and the other is 8 square feet) are perfect for stowing gear and muddy boots. The two doors provide each occupant of the Gunnison 2.3 with an individual entrance and exit, eliminating the need to climb over each other when nature calls in the middle of the night. Kelty includes internal pockets and gear loft loops to maximize livability by allowing you to store small gear items out of the way.
Hubbed aluminum poles offer strength and stability to the Gunnison 2.3. Color coded clip construction makes the tent a cinch to set up. The freestanding design allows you to pitch the Gunnison 2.3 and then move it around your campsite to find the optimum position, eliminating an uncomfortable night's sleep over an exposed root or rock.
Sidewall vents and fly vents provide great airflow, preventing condensation build-up on the interior of the Gunnison 2.3. A PU-coated polyester rainfly provides excellent weather and UV protection, as well as the ability to create generously sized awnings over the doors with the incorporation of trekking poles (sold separately). Kelty's patented ArcEdge construction lifts the fully-taped floor seams up off the ground, eliminating the potential for leaks.
To offer further value in the Kelty Gunnison 2.3 backpacking tent, a custom-fit footprint is included.

- My favorite solo tent!
Likes: I love how quickly this tent sets up with the pole design and the included foot print. This tent is perfect for the solo trip. Being a bigger guy, I have the perfect amount of space in the tent for having just what I need with me inside and still having plenty of sleeping room. I live in Florida so I only camp and backpack in the winter months. Because of the humidity here, I usually like more ventelation in the tent body but I've found that this tent vents very well if you pitch it where the wind blows through the tent long ways. My favorite part about it is being able to use my hiking poles to pitch the awning so I can cook even in dreary weather conditions without getting wet but having unlimited 180 degree views! Pitching it in this way gives you a nice solo sized porch outside. I LOVE that!
Dislikes: Not too many negatives except to say that for a two person tent, it's a little heavy and it would be nice if it included a gear loft. BUT, it's balanced out by the inclusion of the foot print.
Likes: Great sized, light-weight tent for personal use or with a buddy. Very easy to set up; I really enjoy the poling system.
Dislikes: It's interesting that it has loops for the gear loft but doesn't come with the loft to hang up there!
