Lightweight (11 oz) and compact (6.5" x 3"), the Katadyn Hiker PRO microfilter is ideal for backcountry hiking and backpacking. Katadyn includes a number of features and accessories to enhance the Hiker PRO's efficient performance.

The Hiker PRO's 0.3 micron pleated AntiClog glass fiber filter removes particulates, bacteria and cysts, including Giardia and Cryptosporidium. The Hiker PRO can produce up to 200 gallons of drinkable water, depending on the quality of the water source, before a replacement filter is required. An activated carbon core reduces unpleasant tastes and odors, ensuring fresh-tasting water. A cleanable filter protector helps to extend the life of the Hiker PRO's filter cartridge by shielding it from wear and tear.

A simple-to-use ergonomic pump and a 36" input hose allow the Hiker PRO to easily filter up to 1 quart of water per minute at a rate of 48 strokes per quart.

The Hiker PRO includes an input hose with modular pre-filter, an output hose with an easy-fill bottle adapter to efficiently pump water into your water bottle, and 2 Quick Connect fittings and a hydration system connector for easy hose handling and direct filling of hydration packs. A deluxe carry bag has sewn-in field instructions and field tips. The Hiker PRO also comes with a tube of silicon lubricant to keep parts moving smoothly and efficiently. A sponge is included for regular cleaning of the Hiker PRO.

Likes: Been a Katadyn fan for years and the Hiker Pro is one of the better small backpacking filters out there. Never been sick, water tastes clean, easy to use, and fairly durable. What more can you ask for? Some people have mentioned that the attachment points are a bit fragile but I have not had that issue.

Dislikes: Nothing

Likes: Hiker Pro is the fastest of any of the pump filters, fairly durable, and extremely easy to use. You are left with great tasting clean water.

Dislikes: Short filter life since it is not really field maintainable. You can clean the pre-filter around the main filter, but that does not really do much. The replacement filter is expensive.

Likes: Its easy to use and I can fill multiple peoples water bottles fast. I used to have the bottle with a filter in it and its hard to suck the water through the filter after a tough climb. Now I can fill my bottles fast with this microfilter and drink freely.

Dislikes: It takes up more space in my backpack than other filters but its worth it.

Likes: I like the packed size of this filter and the quick connections are nice to easily break it down and assemble it during use. If you do use a quick connect on the output (clean) hose it is a different color than the input (dirty) hose which is nice and will prevent you from accidentally attaching them incorrectly. I also like the nylon bag that came with the filter it has a sturdy zipper and heavy nylon loops you can attach a carabiner to for lashing to my pack.

Dislikes: The only problem I had with the system was the ziplock bag that is marked output on it. It is included to put your clean output hose in to prevent cross contamination of your water supply. The plastic next to the 'ziplock' failed after using the bag twice. It's a minor gripe though. I just used another more durable ziplock bag and marked it output with a sharpie marker.
