A highly-technical option for alpine climbing or snowsports, Outdoor Research Illuminator Sensor Gloves combine warmth, weather protection, and dexterity. Integrated touch-screen compatibility increases the versatility of the gloves.
Versatile and warm, built to repel wicked weather, the Outdoor Research Illuminator Sensor Gloves are a great option for climbers, skiers, snowboarders or anyone who needs good weather protection and warmth in those high, alpine environments. Let’s take a look at all of their features.
First thing we want to take a look at with the gloves is the construction and what makes them a little more special. So we do have a nice, durable, rip stop nylon on the outside. It is 90 percent nylon, 10 percent stretch elastic twill laminated fabric. So you have got really good durable materials that offer really good movement as well.
We do have a ventia dry insert on the inside of the glove so you get full waterproof and breathable protection with these gloves. We have got a nice goat leather palm with a touch screen compatible index finger and thumb. So you can easily use smart phone or tablet or other electronic devices with the index and thumb on each of the gloves, so that is a really nice additional feature there.
We do have a light Primaloft insulation on the inside of the gloves, so that is a really good synthetic insulation that is going to maintain its loft and its warmth even if it gets a little damp from sweat or moisture of any kind, so really good reliable warmth with the gloves. And on the inside we do have a 100 percent tricot lining. So it is a bushed, tricot lining, really nice comfort against the skin on the inside of the glove. So you have got really good warmth, weather protection and all of the good features you would want in these gloves.
Some of the things we have going on the outside, we have got some carabineer clips on the middle finger of either glove, so you can easily attach those to a harness or a backpack if you choose to. We do have a glove clip as well. So you can clip the gloves together, make sure they stay together and you don’t lose just a single glove, which would be bad. You do have a nice elastic band around the wrist of each glove to help keep it in place. So you have got really good fit there, really good comfort. And we do have a hook and loop tab that allows you to really dial in the fit on the exterior of the gloves.
On the inside we do actually have a removable leash. So if I take one of these gloves off you can see that we have a leash attached there that will just... if you drop the glove, if it falls off, if you get into a crash when you are skiing or snowboarding, you won’t lose the glove. If you choose to not take the leash with you and leave it at home, you can simply detach it and set it aside. So it is not a required item. You do also have this pull loop here so you can really pull the glove on to get a nice, tight fit whenever you are putting the gloves on, so really good features in the glove there.
It does also have an under cuff construction, so it is a little lower profile than some of those gauntlet style gloves that will allow you to easily layer your jacket sleeve over the top of the glove and get a nice streamlined and seamless fit with the glove to the jacket. So really nice additional bonus to the glove there.
These gloves do have a precurved construction so you have got a really nice fit there. It reduces the fatigue. You don’t have to work as hard to grip items, your ski poles, your ice aces or whatever you may be holding on to. So that precurved construction adds a lot of dexterity to the fit of the gloves.
And there you have it. It is the Outdoor Research Illuminator Sensor Glove, a great option for those skiers, those climbers, those snowboarders, anyone in those high alpine environment who needs warmth, weather protection and durability.
