Featuring the same collapsible pole technology found in many backpacking tents, the Helinox Cot One High is a compact, lightweight and strong camp cot. It weighs 6.5 pounds while supporting up to 320 pounds!
Using collapsible tent pole technology, the Helinox Cot One High is a compact, light-weight and strong camp cot that just weighs in around six and a half pounds, but it will comfortably support up to 320. It is using a light weight DAC aluminum pole to give it some durability and structure and a nice durable and breathable material that you are actually laying down on. Makes it a very easy cot to set up. We will take a look at how to set it up and how to break it down.
Setting up this cot is very simple. You have got essentially five pieces, six pieces to work with. So you have got your two side beams. You have got three sets of legs and the actual cot portion itself. So to set it up you can lay out your cot, lay out the mesh part that you are actually going to be sleeping on and construct the two aluminum side poles. Once you have those constructed you can slide them right into the sleeves on the side of the mesh portion and get those set up. Once you have your two side beams in place, you can set up your three sets of feet. You know, get those feet set up and there will be two clamps on either side and one of those sides is going to have a tension bar. So set each of those pieces in the openings of the actual cot portion and once you have each set up, you can push down on that tension bar. Now it is going to take a lot of force to tension that cot down, but be comfortable. Just give it a nice good push until you hear a positive click. And that is when you will know that that bar is in place and it is nice and tight as it is meant to be. Once you have all three of those tightened down you can flip over the cot and it is ready to go.
My impressions of this cot are that it is very, very durable. It is super light for what you are getting and it is are really nice option for those who are car camping or base camping who don’t actually want to be sleeping on the ground. It is a nice elevated platform, which is different from some other cots. So you have actually got 15 inches of space off the ground. So it is a nice comfortable seat if you just want to sit down. It has nice rubber feet on the bottom so it is not going to harm a tent floor. It is just an all around comfortable and lightweight and easy option for those who want a little bit more luxury when they are out camping.
Breaking down the cot is fairly simple. You are going to go back to those two tension bars or three tension bars on each of the feet sets. And in order to release that tension or undo it, you have actually got to push again. So just as you pushed to tension it, you have to push it to release that tension. So as you push it, you can squeeze the two levers or but-tons on either side of that bar and once you are able to release those, the tension handle will come back very, very easily. And then you can just unclip each section of the feet to get those off. You can break those down. Then slide the side beam poles out. Break those down and roll it up all together and put it into its stuff sack.
It does have a stuff sack. It has got an integrated handle. It has also got some lash points on there. So it comes in a really nice stuff sack as well. And that is what you get.
It is the Helinox Cot One High. It is a nice option for car camping or base camping that is going to give you some added luxury and comfort when you are out camping.
