Insulated with premium 700 fill-power goose down with Down Defender, the Marmot Men’s Guides Down Vest delivers extra warmth for winter hiking and around town use. Thanks to the water-resistant insulation and a durable water-repellent face fabric, the vest keeps you warm and dry even if the weather is anything but.
An excellent piece for core warmth on milder days or layering when the temperatures drop, the Marmot Guides Down Vest has an innovative, treated insulation that make it great for a variety of different conditions. Let’s take a closer look.
This jacket is constructed 100 percent with polyester rip stop with a DWR finish. So it will shed a light precipitation, but it is not fully waterproof. It is insulated with Marmot’s 700 fill down with down defender treatment. So that down defender treatment just means that the down is going to retain its insulation even if it gets wet. It is going to resist that moisture longer. And if it does get wet it will dry out faster than traditional down, so really nice insulation in play on the vest.
Some features we do have include a full length front zipper with an insulated storm flap behind that. So it will help keep some drafty wind out. We do have that come all the way up to this nice collar with a zipper garage so it won’t chafe the skin. It won’t snag your beard and it does have a really nice brushed interior on the collar so you have got really soft materials next to skin, so a lot of comfort in the collar of the vest here.
We do have two hand pockets. So there are two zippered hand warmer pockets that have a brushed lining, so they are very comfortable and that insulation is layered on the outside, so if you are not wearing gloves you can still get a little warmth for your hands.
On the insides of these pockets there is a draw cord that is going to cinch in the hem so you can simply pull on that draw cord and it is going to cinch that hem down, prevent the vest from riding up on you if you are wearing any type of harness hip belt or anything along those lines. So nice bonus to the hem of the vest here.
We have also got one internal pocket. So inside on the right hand side there is this zippered pocket here. So you have got a nice pocket, very sizable. And a nice benefit to this pocket is that it will go inside out on itself and create a nice stuff size or a travel pillow, you know, just something nice and easy to keep the jacket or the vest stuffed down nice and easily. So you have got a really nice system with that internal pocket. So excellent features in play on the Marmot Guides Down Vest.
The fit of this vest is pretty regular. You know, I am wearing a medium here. I have got p linty of room to layer underneath, whether I want to put a base layer, a nice flannel or something along those lines. I have got plenty of room underneath the vest here. And I can easily layer a hard shell weather proof shell or a rain jacket on top if I need to. So I have got really good movement. It doesn't restrict at all. So nice fit on the vest.
So there you have it. An excellent layering piece to throw over your favorite flannel or under a nice rain jacket, it is the Marmot Guides Down Vest.
