The Gregory Contour 60 is an excellent combination of load-hauling capability and access features. While lightweight (4 lbs) enough for quick overnights, it has the capacity (3600+ cubic inches) for fast-and-light multi-day excursions.

Weighing just 4 pounds while still delivering the fit and performance for which Gregory is renowned, the Contour 60 backpack is an excellent combination of load-hauling capability and intuitive access features. The versatile pack is lightweight enough for quick overnights but has the capacity (3600+ cubic inches) for fast-and-light multi-day excursions.

Comprised of a lightweight, sturdy steel wire frame, an anti-barreling stay and a lightweight foam and mesh backpanel, the Contour 60’s Response LT suspension effectively transfers load to your hips and provides comfortable support. A moisture-wicking harnesses and waistbelt enhance fit, aid in load transfer and provide additional cushioning. Integrated air channels in the backpanel and waistbelt allow warm air to escape so you stay cooler while on the move. An adjustable sternum strap and load-lifter straps further enhance the fit of the Contour 60 and ensure the stability of your load while allowing convenient on-the-go adjustment.

The main compartment of the Contour 60 has top loading access and, in addition, a large, U-shaped front zipper enables you to quickly put hands on gear and or clothes without having to dump out the entire contents of your pack. The Contour 60 also includes side and bottom compression straps to ensure that the contents of the pack remain safely in place. A unique roll-top style top pocket on the Contour 60's highly water-resistant lid offers safe storage for valuables. A large front shove-it pocket is a handy place to store items that you may want quick access to on the trail. Zippered waistbelt pockets provide additional places to stow small items and side stretch mesh pockets are ideal for water bottles.

Other features found on the Contour 60 include dual ice axe/trekking pole attachment points, external hydration system (sold separately) access and an integrated raincover.

The Gregory Contour 60 backpack is available in your choice of color options and Medium (fits torso sizes ranging from 18"-20") and Large (20"-22") sizes.

Good pack

Likes: The multitude of compartments allow for some serious organizing. When packed out at 40 pounds, the pack is very comfortable and easy to adjust. The pack also keeps things dry in minor rain fall without even using the rain cover included in the bottom.

Dislikes: The pack loses quite a bit of comfort at 45 pounds. Some of the compartments become difficult to use when pack is full. Access the pack and learning how to use it may take longer than most other packs. Especially when finding the right things to pack in some of the smaller easier to access pockets.

Likes: I stuffed the Contour with ~30lbs of weight and hauled it around the house doing chores/walking/what not, very comfy with the suspension system that Gregory was boasting about in the demo video.

I have not had the chance to make full use of the 3-tier compartment system that is also a key feature in this pack, but I'm sure it is as convenient as expected.

I'm glad I decided to purchase this over my R(black)I Flash50. Worth the extra money and weight to have a pack that fits you comfy, snug over a long haul.

LAso bought a Osprey Hydraulics 2L and it fits like a glove.

Dislikes: Color not a Dark Grey as the stock image appears to be.

Hip pockets are tapered of in a hexagonal shape. Not big enough to fit normal items such as (plural) snacks, quick access items, camera..again, not big enough for mutiple items or mid-hand sized items :(

Likes: The trail smart packing system is extremely nice. Very easy to separate your gear for quick access. The hydration sleeve is also accessible from outside the pack. However, do not attempt to load your pack first and then think you can easily insert a water bladder. The suspension system is very comfortable and moves with you. The included rain cover is also very nice as I took this pack to Cheaha Mountain for a two nighter and had to hike out in the rain. Overall, this is a well thought out pack (as expected from Gregory) and it does not disappoint.

Dislikes: The compression straps can be annoying. You must undo the straps to easily access almost all main compartments. Minor annoyance.
