The classic, award-winning Gregory Baltoro 65 internal frame backpack boasts a wealth of access points, an array of trail-worthy features and an innovative, custom-fit suspension system that combine to make this 3720+ cubic inch pack a backcountry workhorse.
Determined to avoid the failings of ill-fitting backpacks, Gregory has equipped the Baltoro 65 with the high-performance Response Automatic Angle Adjust (A3) suspension system. Designed to flex with the natural movements of your body, a “wishbone” 7075 aluminum alloy wire frame distributes weight evenly, providing superior load stability, comfort and range of motion. A composite EVA foam backpanel offers breathability and support while resting comfortably against your back. Extensive, contoured padding in the harness, lumbar area, and hipbelt further enhance both fit and comfort. A removable shim of EVA foam can be used or removed to beef up the lumbar padding to best suit your preference. The pre-curved shoulder straps and hipbelt fins move independently of one another to mirror your every movement on-trail or off. These components are available in varying sizes, allowing you to customize the Baltoro 65 to deliver the best fit for backpackers of all shapes and sizes. A sternum strap and load-lifter straps further enhance the pack’s fit and ensure the stability of your load.
A lashed divider separates the top and front-entry main compartment of the Baltoro 65 from a lower sleeping bag compartment, allowing for organization and separation of wet and dry gear. When hauling longer items or in need of access between the two compartments, you can unhook the divider and convert the Baltoro 65 to a single, large compartment. The extendible lid of the Baltoro 75 includes a weather-resistant zippered pocket for stowing gear and can be detached entirely to save weight. The pack has a wealth of other organizational features, including an enormous zippered front pocket, two sizable and separated lid pockets, and a smaller zip pocket on the underside of the lid.
Other features include a canted, hideaway water bottle holder, two zippered hipbelt pockets one of which is entirely waterproof, gear attachment loops, and side, cross over and lower panel compression straps. Gregory also includes a raincover for full protection against the elements. An integrated sleeve and exit port make the Baltoro 65 hydration system (sold separately) compatible. That same sleeve can be removed entirely and, thanks to its integrated minimalist shoulder strap, it can be used as a lightweight daypack or summit pack!
The Gregory Baltoro 65 backpack is available in your choice of colors and Small (fits torso lengths ranging from 16”-18”), Medium (18”-20”) and Large (20”-22”) size options.

Real Customer Reviews
- Great Pack
Likes: Very roomy and comfortable. Fits all my gear and is great for backcountry camping.
Dislikes: None yet
- One fatal flaw for big guys
Likes: This pack had all the features I wanted, but ultimately was not a good fit for me.
Dislikes: The waist belt requires a special buckle you will need to order for $10+shipping if you have a gut. I'm a 42 inch waist. Not huge by any means and it was too tight without the special buckle.
- Great pack. Replaces an Osprey
Likes: I used to be an Osprey fan until they got cheap with separate compartments. The Gregory pack has convenient spots for all your gear.
Dislikes: The bladder spot could be directly behind the harness for easy access, as opposed to inside the pack.
- Best Pack
Likes: Very durable
You can carry very heavy loads comfortably
U-shaped zipper on front makes packing it a breeze
Comes with rain cover
Waterproof hip-belt pocket
Angled water bottle pocket makes it easy to grab a drink with the pack on
- Awesome Pack
Likes: Extremely comfortable, plus it comes with a rain cover as well as a small bag on the inside that can be used as a day pack! Was also impressed with really fast shipping and great customer service by backcountry.
Dislikes: the water bottle holder is a little difficult to reach with a full pack, but in my experience this a problem lots of packs face.
- Good Pack But Not For Me
Likes: I like the packs overall setup. Has a lot of nice organization pockets with features. Such as the waterproof pocket on the waist, and the angled H2O holder. Overall durability with compression straps and adjust ability. .
Dislikes: What I did not like is opposite of what everyone is saying. This pack just did not conform to me well at all. I have also heard this from locals that tested the pack out too. The waist band, shoulder straps, and lumbar support seem to be padded well when looking over. For me they are actually on the hard side as the filler edges seems to not comfort but dig overtime while hiking. Even with a lighter amount of weight no matter what I could not find comfort .
- Great Pack
Likes: Ordered for my boyfriend. It looks very sleek and according to him carries the weight very well. Weight of the pack plus gear was about 40lbs on our recent trip. I have tried the women's version of this called the deva and they are both great. Heavier than other packs but not by much and they make up for it in comfort.
Dislikes: Heavier than other packs...but like I said it makes up for it in comfort.
Likes: One of the best packs on the market - I love the Baltoro and use it for long day hikes (Im a photographer so carry a lot of weight and gear even on a day hike) and weekenders. Great suspension system, wonderful organization, and love the small summit pack and rain cover that comes with it. Really a solid, durable pack that can handle a heavy load VERY comfortably.
Dislikes: Nothing at all
