The classic, award-winning Gregory Baltoro 65 internal frame backpack boasts a wealth of access points, an array of trail-worthy features and an innovative, custom-fit suspension system that combine to make this 3720+ cubic inch pack a backcountry workhorse.
Determined to avoid the failings of ill-fitting backpacks, Gregory has equipped the Baltoro 65 with the high-performance Response Automatic Angle Adjust (A3) suspension system. Designed to flex with the natural movements of your body, a “wishbone” 7075 aluminum alloy wire frame distributes weight evenly, providing superior load stability, comfort and range of motion. A composite EVA foam backpanel offers breathability and support while resting comfortably against your back. Extensive, contoured padding in the harness, lumbar area, and hipbelt further enhance both fit and comfort. A removable shim of EVA foam can be used or removed to beef up the lumbar padding to best suit your preference. The pre-curved shoulder straps and hipbelt fins move independently of one another to mirror your every movement on-trail or off. These components are available in varying sizes, allowing you to customize the Baltoro 65 to deliver the best fit for backpackers of all shapes and sizes. If you require customization of components, please leave detailed instructions about what size hipbelt and/or harness you need in the “Order Comment” field on the “Order Review” screen at checkout or call us at 1.800.617.0643 to place your customized order directly with one of our Gear Specialists. A sternum strap and load-lifter straps further enhance the pack’s fit and ensure the stability of your load.
A lashed divider separates the top and front-entry main compartment of the Baltoro 65 from a lower sleeping bag compartment, allowing for organization and separation of wet and dry gear. When hauling longer items or in need of access between the two compartments, you can unhook the divider and convert the Baltoro 65 to a single, large compartment. The extendible lid of the Baltoro 65 includes a weather-resistant zippered pocket for stowing gear and can be detached entirely to save weight. The pack has a wealth of other organizational features, including an enormous zippered front pocket, two sizable and separated lid pockets, and a smaller zip pocket on the underside of the lid.
Other features include a canted, hideaway water bottle holder, two zippered hipbelt pockets one of which is entirely waterproof, gear attachment loops, and side, cross over and lower panel compression straps. Gregory also includes a raincover for full protection against the elements. An integrated sleeve and exit port make the Baltoro 65 hydration system (sold separately) compatible. That same sleeve can be removed entirely and, thanks to its integrated minimalist shoulder strap, it can be used as a lightweight daypack or summit pack!
The Gregory Baltoro 65 backpack is available in your choice of colors and Small (fits torso lengths ranging from 16”-18”), Medium (18”-20”) and Large (20”-22”) size options.

Real Customer Reviews
- bells and whistles
Likes: This is am insanely comfortable pack. The lumbar support is great. I appreciate the way the straps kinda swivel too. It's a bit on the heavy side but worth it for someone with back pain.
I love the option for the removable day pack too
Dislikes: The hip belt pockets are a bit small. And this isn't necessarily a strike against the pack because I tend to have this problem with every pack I've tried, but I don't like how it's difficult to tilt my head back without thinking about it. Head bumps back of pack.
- Good Item
- Pack fits this big guy perfectly
Likes: BCE worked with me to get the hip belt and shoulder straps correct. I am a big guy and this pack fits like it was custom made for me. Got it at a great price also. I read all the reviews and once I got it they all seem true. Great pack. Great companies, Gregory and BCE.
Dislikes: None as of yet.
- Gregory baltoro 65
Likes: Preface, yet to get it on the trail. I however have had several packs, including gregory. Ive been using osprey the last 5yrs. Love my Osprey but, was hoping to find a little more support worhout too much added weight. I believe ive found it.
Weight feels nice. Quality stitching, construction feels as good as any. The fit feels is snug and comfortable.
Dislikes: Wont really know the balance and feel until its on the trail. Not long now though, Mar is almost done and
- Gregory Baltoro 65 Backpack - Initial Impression
Likes: Quality of Material; Hip Belt; Organization of pockets
Dislikes: None at this point.
- Great Backpack
Likes: Very comfortable and well thought out design. I really like the access to the main part of the pack through the U shaped zipper.
Dislikes: The pockets on the waist belt could be a little bigger. It would be nice if you could change them for different sizes.
- Really great pack!!
Likes: The fit and feel. Usually an Osprey person for packs, but once I tried this on compared to similar Osprey models, had to go with this one instead. Removable day pack great as a small carry on bag, big front zipper pocket, comes with a rain cover, side zipper for easy access to main storage, and shoulder straps and hip belt were very comfortable!
Dislikes: None so far.
- Great Backpack
Likes: Great product! Great communication from BackCountry Edge regarding a few questions that I had prior to ordering. Large and comfortable.
Dislikes: No complaints
- Great Pack
Likes: Very roomy and comfortable. Fits all my gear and is great for backcountry camping.
Dislikes: None yet
- One fatal flaw for big guys
Likes: This pack had all the features I wanted, but ultimately was not a good fit for me.
Dislikes: The waist belt requires a special buckle you will need to order for $10+shipping if you have a gut. I'm a 42 inch waist. Not huge by any means and it was too tight without the special buckle.
