The innovative Exped SynMat UL 7 sleeping pad offers flat valve technology, ultralight construction and baffled air chambers for superior comfort and 3-season performance at less than 2 pounds!
The SynMat UL 7 employs baffled air chambers to provide 2.8 inches of comfortable support. High-performance laminated polyester fabric is air tight and slip proof and offers both UV and abrasion resistance. A layer of microfiber insulation is laminated to the bottom and top of each baffled air chamber. The combined thickness of the SynMat 7 UL and the insulation lend the pad an R-value of 3.3, making it far warmer than most comparable inflatable sleeping pads.
Glues used in sleeping pad construction are often broken down by moisture but Exped's proprietary, fabric lamination process creates air tight baffles and prevents moisture build up in the pad from destroying these glues, resulting in no loss of air over time. Another stand out feature of the SynMat UL 7 is flat valve construction. Separate valves for inflation and deflation offer a high volume of air flow in and out of the pad making inflating and deflating the pad fast and easy. Many inflatable sleeping pads fail due to their valve construction but Exped's Flat valve technology eliminates the stiff edge commonly found around traditional valves. This results in lasting, durable valve construction for the life of the pad.
Each Exped SynMat UL 7 can be inflated by mouth or with Exped pump accessories such as the Exped Pillow Pump or Exped Schnozzel (both sold separately). Why fuss with blowing up the pad manually when you can let the pump do the work for you? Adding additional value, each SynMat UL 7 includes its own stuff sack and field repair kit.
The Exped SynMat UL 7 is available in Small (64.2" x 20.5"), Medium (72" x 20.5"), Medium/Wide (72" x 25.6" x 2.8"), and Long/Wide (77.6" x 25.6" x 2.8") lengths.

Real Customer Reviews
- Great lightweight pad
Likes: I'm not sure what I like most - the small size it packs to or the light weight. Perfect for tent or hammock camping (a great compliment to the Exped Ergo Combi hammock). Warm but not hot. we have both the MW and LW versions... the extra width vs. the standard mat is really nice for side sleepers. This is the first mat my wife has been comfortable on. It is important not to inflate it too much (more comfortable not inflated "hard").
Dislikes: Noisy to roll over on. OK durability (no issues in the woods / water, but our cat managed to put a few holes in it while sneezing (claws... her sneezes aren't THAT powerful). Easily patched with the included patch kit thankfully. I would only use on a ground cloth / tent / in a hammock, not by itself on the ground (as is recommended by Exped).
- So comfortable!
Likes: I've never been this comfortable camping before. Super easy to inflate with the schnozzel pump, this comfortable, lightweight, warm sleeping pad made a huge difference for a positive backpacking experience.
Dislikes: Thus far, no dislikes.
- Favorite sleeping pad, very comfortable
Likes: Comfortable. Rectangular shape. Size is very generous but still stores compactly. Warm for its R value.
Dislikes: Requires a lot of air to inflate (the optional Exped Schnozzel PumpBag solves this though) Quieter than some pads but still somewhat noisy.
- Quality = Another Exped Mat purchased!
Likes: 16.7 oz! With my scale, the weight is @ 16 .7 oz. That's great for a rectangle pad/mat with an R-value of b/t 3.3 to 3.1. IMHO, I hate mummy cuts, so that wasn't an option for weight savings. I did weigh the repair kit that comes with it and that weight checks in around .4 oz. I did throw away the "Non-English repair instructions." I threw away the inflation/deflation(use) instructions; only keeping the "English repair instructions." Additionally, I trimmed the instructions kept to further cut weight. The materials feels comfortable. Smoother than the DownMat9 I own(3-4 yrs old) for sub 30degree weather. Having that sleep pad/mat for that long played a part in my decision to go back to Exped. I've not had ANY problems from the DownMat9...GREAT QUALITY! The SynMat thickness also allows for comfortable side-lying/sleeping. It is not as loud(potato chip bag sound) as some sleep pads. In addition, I purchased the UL Schnozzel Pump Bag to inflate the Synmat as I didn't have a desire to inflate with my humid-moist breath that could potentially degridate the material and create water droplets in the chambers causing a water cooling effect as the cool night progresses.
I would recommend this item...Heck, I bought another Exped sleep pad/mat.

Dislikes: Not Sub 16 oz!
