The innovative Exped SynMat 7 sleeping pad has garnered numerous awards. A built-in pump makes inflation incredibly simple and microfiber insulation enhances the year-round performance of the SynMat 7.
The SynMat 7 employs separated air chambers to provide 2.8 inches of comfortable support. High-performance laminated polyester fabric is air tight, slip proof and offers both UV and abrasion resistance. A layer of microfiber insulation laminated to the bottom and top of each baffled air chamber eliminates cold spots. The combined thickness of the SynMat 7 and the insulation lend the pad an R-value of 4.9, making it far warmer than most comparable inflatable sleeping pads and an excellent choice for year round use, including moderate temperature snow camping.
Glues used in sleeping pad construction are often broken down by moisture but Exped's proprietary, fabric lamination process creates air tight baffles and prevents moisture build up in the pad from destroying these glues, resulting in no loss of air over time. Another stand out feature of the SynMat 7 is flat valve construction. Separate valves for inflation and deflation offer a high volume of air flow in and out of the pad making inflating and deflating the pad fast and easy. Many inflatable sleeping pads fail due to their valve construction but Exped's Flat valve technology eliminates the stiff edge commonly found around traditional valves. This results in lasting, durable valve construction for the life of the pad.
Each Exped SynMat 7 has its own integrated built-in pump. Why fuss with blowing up the pad manually when you can let the pump do the work for you? Adding additional value, each SynMat 7 includes its own stuff sack and field repair kit.
The Exped SynMat 7 is available in Medium (72" x 20.5"), Long (77.6" x 20.5") and Long/Wide (77.6" x 25.6") lengths.

Real Customer Reviews
- Solid Sleeping Pad
Likes: Initial Notes: I would consider this more of a winter sleeping pad. I purchased for motorcycle camping trips and car camping trips. I'm still not 100% happy with the pad but it gets the job done. Definitely not an ultralight pad.
Very well insulated pad.
High quality fabrics and build.
Has a built-in hand pump to avoid getting moisture inside the pad.
Packs decently small.
Dislikes: Takes a bit of effort and time to pump up by hand. You can also use your foot or you can start the process with your mouth if you desire. I really wanted to like this feature but it's just not implemented as well as one would hope. It does get the job done.
Difficult to make fine-adjustments while sleeping.
Heavier and packs larger than a lot of other mats on the market today. Price you pay for great insulation.
Feels like you're sleeping on a pool raft with the way the baffles run from top to bottom if you like a firm sleep. If you let some air out this feeling goes away.
The standard-wide mat doesn't fit a lot of standard sleeping bags with pad slips. This is not really a dislike but more of a FYI bullet.
- A good pad for side sleepers
Likes: Makes side sleeping comfortable, packs down nice and compact, warm & durable. The built-in hand pump also works well.
Dislikes: Of course with the comfort of a thick pad comes the added weight.
- Great mats
Likes: Very comfortable, a little heavier due to the included pump (which works well but takes a while.) I've moved on to the UL version and the schnozzle pump bag to inflate, which I think is a better overall system (and saves space/weight)
Dislikes: Could pack smaller and is a little heavy given the valves for the built in pump which take a while. Works well though, and is super comfortable.
