Effectively balancing weight, performance and livability, the Exped Gemini II tent is a great option for 3-season backpacking. A unique pole structure and durable construction equip the Gemini II with reliable freestanding stability.
Measuring 86.6" x 49.2", the Gemini II provides room for two or voluminous space for solo backpackers. An innovative "endoskeleton" pole structure increases the verticality of the sidewalls to maximize elbow room. This design also makes it easy to set up the Gemini II tent. Dual vestibules provide a combined 21.5 square feet of external storage space and the two zippered doors make it easy for backpackers to get in and out of the tent without having to climb over each other.
Lightweight DAC Featherlite NSL aluminum poles and continuous sleeve construction grant the Gemini II sturdy freestanding stability. Guy lines and stakes are included for a sturdy pitch. Ripstop polyester fabrics strengthen the main body of the Gemini II and extensive mesh provides excellent ventilation and limits condensation in humid conditions. A fully seam-taped ripstop nylon rainfly with a weatherproof silicone-PU coating ensures protection from the elements.
An optional custom-fit footprint (sold separately) can be used to further protect the floor of the Gemini II tent from sharp objects, mud and ground water.

Likes: Would probably give a 4.5 if allowed. This is a well thought out tent. Roomy, simple, average weight and comfortable. Love the simple 4 pole design. Love the guy out lines attached to poles. Love the glow in the dark zippers. Love the mesh stow away bags for the guy out lines.
Dislikes: After all the pluses, I'm still unsure of tent though. I like a tent that is durable and will withstand an unforgiving environment, even if that means a couple of extra ounces, which this tent has. However, I have come across some durability issues with the rainfly. In most situations it works perfectly, however after a light brush with a rock a hole was formed. Not my idea of durable.
Likes: Exped put a lot of thought into this tent. Great layout, very roomy, easy set up. Overall great 3 season tent
Dislikes: Although they use high quality materials, as do most manufactures these days, I look for a tent with more durable fabrics.
Likes: Quality of construction, sturdy in the wind, and great style/design. (If they put it on the cover of the Backpacker Gear Issue, it has too look good.) I like that the top is not mesh, but that the sides are almost completely. Which do you do more? Watch the 2 or 3 stars bright enough to see through mesh, or put your fly on as protection from the sun during the day? With this, you can actually take a mid-day nap in your tent while you are protected from the sun and enjoying the breeze. If you want to see it in action, EXPED has some great videos on YouTube.
Dislikes: The walls are high, but they bend in just enough that it is definitely a squeeze for two people, and you will each be pushing against the wall. Better thought of as a roomy 1-man tent.
