An amazing combination of warmth and lightweight packability, the Exped DownMat UL 7 inflatable sleeping pad allows even ounce-counting backpackers to enjoy confident comfort in all 4-seasons. High-performance 750+ goose down insulation provides the DownMat UL 7 with a warm R-value of 5.9.

The DownMat UL 7 employs separated air chambers to provide 2.8 inches of comfortable support. Top-of-the-line laminated polyester fabric is air tight, slip proof and offers both UV and abrasion resistance. A layer of goose down insulation laminated to the bottom and top of each baffled air chamber eliminates cold spots. Exped uses only IDFL-certified goose down that is specially treated to eliminate the negative effects of humidity. Lightweight horizontal foam blocks at either end of the pad prevent down from escaping or migrating between chambers. A year round-worthy R-value of 5.9 makes the pad suitable for winter use and snow camping.

Glues used in sleeping pad construction are often broken down by moisture but Exped's proprietary fabric lamination process creates air tight baffles and prevents moisture build up in the pad from destroying these glues, resulting in no loss of air over time. Another stand out feature of the DownMat UL 7 is Exped's flat valve construction. Separate valves for inflation and deflation offer a high volume of air flow in and out of the pad making inflating and deflating the pad fast and easy. Many inflatable sleeping pads fail due to their valve construction but the DownMat UL 7's flat valves eliminate the stiff edge commonly found around traditional valves. This results in lasting, durable valve construction for the life of the pad.

Adding greater functionality and enhancing the pad's longevity, an included Schnozzel Pumpbag tackles inflation without introducing any potentially destructive moisture into the interior. This also saves you from the task of manually blowing air into the pad. The pumpbag doubles as a stuff sack and a field repair kit is included for emergency purposes.

The Exped DownMat UL 7 is available in XSmall (47" x 20") Small (64" x 20"), Medium (72" x 20") and Long/Wide (77.5" x 26") lengths.

Very comfy
Reviewed by Andy B. - October 13, 2017

Likes: I bought a Therm-A Rest Neoair Xlite and could not sleep on the thing. I sold it and started reading reviews on other sleeping pads and this one kept coming up. I bought it and have not looked back. It is easy to inflate and very comfortable. The R-value is a little low, but I have a warm sleeping bag so that is not a problem for me.

Dislikes: R-value may be to low for winter camping.

So comfortable!
Reviewed by Kristen T. - September 13, 2017

Likes: Very comfortable and I love that this model from Exped included the Schnozzel Pumpbag that is usually sold separately for $40. It is very quick to blow up and extremely comfortable.

Dislikes: As to be expected, but on the not so cool fall nights in Texas, the R-Value of this mat does not lend itself to warmer temps

Great Sleeping Pad
Reviewed by Mehdi M. - September 8, 2017

Likes: This is very comfortable. It seems pretty durable and lightweight for a four-season pad. I can't wait to take it out on a backpacking trip. The pump bag is amazing!

Dislikes: Nothing so far.

Reviewed by Steve C. - September 2, 2017

Likes: This thing is fantastic. It inflates within 15sec, breaks down and folds up in <1min. Comfort is perfect to weight ratio. I went from a Z-lite to this and ill never look back. Warmth is on point and have used it in well below freezing temps. Durability is good and doesnt feel like its gonna pop at all.

Dislikes: none

Very comfortable!
Reviewed by Patty M. - July 25, 2017

Likes: I took it out of the box, without reading the instructions, and tried to blow it up using the deflate hole. Once I realized what I did it was a piece of cake blowing up. It's very comfortable and warm. I can't wait to take it out camping in a couple weeks.

Dislikes: I haven't found anything yet.

Small and light
Reviewed by Orlando R. - May 18, 2017

Likes: Packs very small and is pretty light. Comes with inflation pump that works very well and keeps moisture from inside pad. R-value is very good.

Dislikes: Feels very delicate due to the lightweight fabric but with careful use it should be ok.

Excellent and Comfy

Likes: This is very well made. Only used it once, so it's durability is unknown.
It is very comfortable. Haven't tested below freezing yet.
Once you get the hang of the bag, easy to inflate. I fold it in half ( lengthwise) before I roll it up. Then it fits in my Aether backpack's sleeping bag straps!
Great price and customer service as usual from BackcountryEdge!
Thanks Luke for the advice!

Dislikes: None yet. Time will tell on the long term durability of the pad AND/OR the pad itself.

Likes: Took this on a 3 day hike few weeks ago the comfortable pad I have ever slept on

Dislikes: none

Reviewed by Inside Edge Member - February 23, 2015

Likes: The weight came in at 27.4 oz on my food scale (Long/Wide). Very close to the claimed weight. The comfort level is unmatched by any inflated pad IMO, you need to carry a 5+ pound pad to get more comfortable than this. By deflating a bit from full inflation and using the SD Backcountry Quilt 800F (an equally superb product), it feels like I am sleeping on a twin mattress at home. It is that comfortable.

I haven't owned it nearly long enough to comment on long-term durability, but it "feels" about average as far as puncture resistance goes for inflatable pads.

The included pump bag is very useful, local camping stores charge $20+ just for that. Takes about 5 full bag pumps for the long/w

Dislikes: I've noticed the down can shift to the end of the chambers when rolling up (Exped laminates foam on the ends so it won't transfer to other chambers, at least). Exped recommends shaking it at half inflation once in a while to maintain the right distribution. Not a big deal. As always, don't store this in its stuff sack long term.
