Designed for high-aerobic activities like skiing, climbing, backpacking, or running, the Marmot Estes Hoody utilizes M3 softshell fabrics to maximize breathability while offering warmth and water-repellent protection.
Lightweight, breathable and offering good mobility, the Marmot men’s Estes hoody is going to provide protection in milder, dryer climates during high aerobic activities. Let’s take a closer look at its features.
Marmot is using their M3 soft shell in this jacket. It is a lightweight and breathable soft shell that is going to provide good protection in those milder climates. It has got really good mobility to it. So if you are doing any high aerobic activities like climbing or running, maybe hiking in the cooler temperatures, it is going to provide good weather resistance, wind resistance, abrasion resistance. It is not a waterproof jacket. So keep that in mind. It is, you know, going to shed some light rain and moisture, but it is not totally waterproof.
You do have some nice features in play on this jacket. You have got two zippered size pockets. They are pack or harness compatible so they sit up a little bit higher so you can access them if you were wearing a harness or a backpack hip belt.
You do have a Napoleon style chest pocket, nice little pocket there that is going to give you, you know, quick access to smaller items. On the inside of the jacket there is one zippered pocket, decent size so you can put some snacks or your phone, maybe a wallet in there. Zippered pocket on the inside.
You have got a full length zipper down the front. It has got a nice zipper garage at the top. So when you zip that all the way up it has got good protection., It is not going to rub or, you know, create abrasion on your skin. It is not going to snag your beard either.
We do have a hood, as the name suggests. The Estes hoody has a good hood. It is a relatively fit hood, but it does offer some adjustability. So we have got two adjustments here and there is also an adjustment in the back. So you can really cinch that fit down nicely.
We also have some shaping in the brim. So there is a little bit of a harder nylon material there. It is going to provide some extra protection, kind of like a, you know, brim style there.
Down at the bottom we do have dual draw cord hem adjustments so you can really cinch that hem down. If you are wearing a harness or a pack, that will help to prevent the jacket from riding up on you. So it keeps everything in place. And also we have got cuff adjustments with Velcro so that will also help to keep those sleeves in place if you need to shut out some harsher weather. You can do that at each of the cuffs. So you have got some nice features in play on this jacket.
Marmot is using their angel wing technology in this jacket, so that provides a lot of good movement and mobility in the jacket. It doesn't restrict your arms, you know, when you lift your arms or you move around. The jacket is not going to ride up or shift uncomfortably on you. So it is a nice bit of technology for Marmot there.
The fit is considered a standard fit, although I find it to be a little snug. I am wearing a medium. I normally wear mediums. With this particular jacket there is not much room for me to layer underneath. I could put on heavier duty shell on the outside of this, but for the intended purpose of the jacket it fits will. You know, it is designed to be a high aerobic jacket, so a little bit more of a form fit piece there. It has got a very nice fit over all.
So there you have it. It is the Marmot men’s Estes hoody, a nice light weight, breathable and mobile jacket for high aerobic pursuits in the backcountry.
