Deuter's most full-featured child carrier, the Kid Comfort 3 provides a fully adjustable suspension system, a swiveling hipbelt, extensive padding and German-engineered safety features. The Kid Comfort 3 even includes its own integrated sunroof/rain cover and rearview mirror. The Kid Comfort 3 is suitable for children who can sit up by themselves.
The Kid Comfort 3 is designed for a full day of adventure. The firm and extra-supportive suspension provides comfort for the wearer, allowing you to travel further and longer with the Kid Comfort 3 than you can with lesser carriers. Integrated folding "legs" make the carrier sturdy when standing on its own while still conveniently collapsing to maintain a sleek and maneuverable profile when placed on your back.
A sensible child seat adjusts in height to accommodate a growing child. A practical 5-point safety harness with color-coded buckles offers maximum security, allowing for easy handling and adjustment. A side entry with buckle closure allows you to easily situate your child in the seat. The Kid Comfort 3 has a total carrying capacity of up to 48.5 pounds (including child, pack and gear). Two large zippered pockets offer 1220 cubic inches of storage and an elastic back storage pocket provides an additional stash location for clothing, diapers and gear.
The Kid Comfort 3 utilizes Deuter’s VARIFIT harness system to accommodate varying torso lengths of the wearer and relies on the compression and expansion of Aircontact foam to provide ventilation and further enhance load-carrying comfort. Soft, breathable fabrics and ventilated pads in the back, shoulder straps and VARIFLEX pivoting hipbelt help to keep you cool and comfortable on your adventures. The hipbelt has been designed to swivel as you walk, providing optimal weight distribution, enhancing balance and helping to maintain comfort regardless of the weight that you are carrying. Load-lifter straps and shoulder and lumbar padding aid in the distribution of weight, providing further stability and comfort.
The Kid Comfort 3 includes a padded headrest for your child, an integrated zip-away sun roof and rain cover, a removable/washable chin rest, an internal valuables pocket, dual lifting points, side elastic mesh pockets for transporting water or baby bottles and a 3M reflector loop for high visibility. A handy child safety mirror is tucked into the hipbelt and allows you to keep an eye on your traveling companion. A zippered side-access pocket makes the Kid Comfort 3 compatible with a hydration system (sold separately).

Real Customer Reviews
- Excited to use it!
Likes: Easy to adjust, comfortable for me and baby. Tons of storage!
Dislikes: Took me a while to find the instruction manual.
- Must have for hiking
Likes: Much better than a baby carrier (front) when on the trails. Feels lightweight, more secure and comfortable for little one
Dislikes: Took some time getting used to putting on solo
- Very comfortable to carry
Likes: Comfortable to carry, weight is well distributed after the backpack setup is complete. It does need to set carefully all the straps to perfectly fit the person which will carry it. Child also seems to stay comfortable, my 1yr old fell asleep after a while.
Dislikes: None so far, I've just been two times on some short 1-2hr hikes.
- Great carrier
Likes: Super comfortable for both me and my son. Easy to take on and off. Love that it came with a mirror.
Dislikes: Nothing yet.
- THE hiking carrier for your kid
Likes: This is a great carrier overall. It does a good job of distributing the weight to your hips rather than your back. Our kid loves it and falls asleep more often than not. We feel that he is both comfortable and secure. There are several nice features including the sun/rain cover, pocket mirror, stirrups, teddy bear and chin pillow. All in all I think this is the best option out there.
Dislikes: Shoulder straps are not very comfortable and I find myself adjusting them frequently to find a more comfortable position. Hopefully I just need some help getting it fitted properly. I also wish there as a "roll cage" style frame for added safety.
- love it
Likes: Easy to put on and take off. Doesn't get too hot. Supportive for child with muscular dystrophy.
- Excellent Child Carrier
Likes: So far I've (6' 180 lbs) only done 4 ~one hour hikes with this pack and our 16 month old, ~25 lb child. Setting it up to a bit of time but everything went as described in the instructions and can really be customized. The bag tightens up well and really allows you to support the weight with your hips. The back breathes decently, better than I expected; even with a few hundred feet elevation gain, my back wasn't soaking. The storage/bladder compartments are nice but we haven't really had a need to use them yet but that should change soon.
Dislikes: There's not too much negative to say about the pack. The foot stirrups are a bit high even when fully let out but we just let our kids feel dangle for the most part.
- Prefer over Osprey Poco
Dislikes: the strap system for the child harness takes some getting used to
- very comfortable and easy to use.
Likes: very light comfortable my kid loves it she's 13 months. Great value you won't be disappointed with this brand
Likes: Fantastic product. Comfortable for a 6'1" man . Kids were very comfortable on a 6 hour hike. The pack has ample storage and was able to function as a high chair in a restaurant after our hike.
Dislikes: I think that Osprey has a much better child harness. The Deuter harness is difficult to use.
