A favorite among on-the-go parents, the Deuter Kid Comfort 2 employs German engineering and tested safety features to ensure an enjoyable adventure for you and your child. A fully adjustable suspension system, a swiveling hipbelt and extensive padding combine to deliver a comfortable fit. The Kid Comfort 2 is suitable for children who can sit up by themselves.
The Kid Comfort 2 offers the firm support you need for longer-duration hiking, but is also compact enough for everyday use. Integrated folding "legs" make the carrier sturdy when standing on its own while still conveniently collapsing to maintain a sleek and maneuverable profile when placed on your back.
A sensible child seat adjusts in height to accommodate a growing child. A practical 5-point safety harness with color-coded buckles offers maximum security, allowing for easy handling and adjustment. A side entry with buckle closure allows you to easily situate your child in the seat. The Kid Comfort 2 has a total carrying capacity of up to 48.5 pounds (including child, pack and gear). Two large zippered pockets offer 1100 cubic inches of storage and an elastic back storage pocket provides an additional stash location for clothing, diapers and gear.
The Kid Comfort 2 utilizes Deuter's VARIFIT harness system to accommodate varying torso lengths of the wearer and relies on the compression and expansion of Aircontact foam to provide ventilation and further enhance load-carrying comfort. Soft, breathable fabrics and ventilated pads in the back, shoulder straps and VARIFLEX pivoting hipbelt help to keep you cool and comfortable on your adventures. The hipbelt has been designed to swivel as you walk, providing optimal weight distribution, enhancing balance and helping to maintain comfort regardless of the weight that you are carrying. Load-lifter straps and shoulder and lumbar padding aid in the distribution of weight, providing further stability and comfort.
The Kid Comfort 2 includes a padded headrest for your child, a removable/washable chin rest, an internal valuables pocket, dual lifting points, side elastic mesh pockets for transporting water or baby bottles and a 3M reflector loop for high visibility. A zippered side-access pocket makes the carrier compatible with a hydration system (sold separately). Deuter's Sun Roof/Rain Cover (sold separately) can be attached to the Kid Comfort 2 to protect your child from the elements.

Likes: The pack is comfortable to wear. The padding for the child's head is a nice touch. There is enough storage space for gear while out on a hike.
Dislikes: Nothing as of yet. I hope it holds up well as we put miles and wear and tear on the pack. Only time will tell if it holds up.
Likes: My wife and I have twins and wanted two carriers that we could carry our 10 month old boys. We looked at the Osprey Poco Premium and the Deuter Kid Comfort 2 and 3. We were very familiar with Osprey and the strong reputation for their packs, and not familiar with Deuter. We chose the Deuter 2 for my wife, who is 5'4". The pack fit well (much better than the Osprey, which hurt in the shoulders). We went on multiple hikes with our 10 month olds for as long as 6 hours. They found them to be very comfortable and would occasionally take naps during our hikes in the carriers. The carrier also doubled as a high chair at a restaurant after our hike. The pack had ample storage for kid and adult.
Dislikes: The Kid Comfort 2 did not fit a 6'1" tall person well. We purchase the sun shade and the blue rain cover. I think Deuter needs to build this into the pack (like the Kid Carrier 3). The rain cover that is included in the sunshade worked well, but the rest of the pack got wet in the rain. We also used the separate rain cover which does not fit as well (significantly reduced the visibility of the child). We very much like the padded chin rests, though we found our little boys had modest chafing on their chins.
