Versatile, lightweight and affordable, the Deuter Kid Comfort 1 Child Carrier has a ventilated, adjustable suspension system that makes it comfortable for you to carry and includes safety features so that your child is secure and comfortable. Let’s take a closer look at its features.
The Kid Comfort 1 is a fully frame child carrier. So you have got an aluminum frame here in the front that carries it down to the bottom where you have got a nice stable base. There is a folding kick stand here at the bottom of the kid carrier that makes it stand securely when you are taking your child in and out. There is also a haul handle here, a place to grab on to the carrier as well.
Since we have got our teddy bear in here today, rather than a child, I am going to go ahead an fold in that leg so we can maneuver this a little more easily. Let me turn the Kid Comfort 1 around so we can look at that suspension system.
Deuter, renowned for making backpacks has brought that same technology, those... that same type of construction here into the Kid Comfort 1. There is not a whole lot of padding here. It is a fairly minimalist design, but you certainly do have padding on the sides over top of the frame. You have got nice lumbar padding here. You do have that padding throughout the contoured shoulder straps and also the adjustable hip belt, so nice padding there. This ladder lock that you see here on the back actually allows you to move the suspension system up and down so that whomever is wearing this is getting an appropriate fit. It will accommodate a torso range of 15 inches on the short side up to about 21 inches, so a nice real... nice broad range there. It allows different users to wear this, mom, dad, whomever and get a nice comfortable fit instead of one person getting a comfortable fit and everyone else having to kind of live with an awkward fit. So it makes this stand out over most traditional child carriers.
You do have load lifter straps here. You also have a sliding adjustable sternum strap. So, again, just a couple of more features that really help you dial in the fit.
I am going to turn the pack to the side here so we can take a look at how your child gets in and out of the carrier. There are padded side panels on each side of the cockpit or the place in which the seat is positioned. So your child, again, is safe and secure. You can open those up a bit, loosen those. It makes it a little easier to get in and out. But you do have a safety harness in there. Make sure that your child is not going anywhere, but also some nice adjustability and padding so that while they are not going anywhere, they are comfortable and happy in the child carrier.
Move our teddy bear out of the way so we can take a little closer look at that interior. You do have a padded seat. You also have padding across the back of the seat, all of which works in tandem to keep your child comfortable. There is some padding here on the back of the frame or the back panel for whomever is wearing this. Whether your child falls asleep on that or just kind of, you know, just swaying a little bit while you are on the move, that makes sure that they are not coming into contact with that frame. So, again, just another measure of comfort.
I am going to spin the carrier one more time here and we will look at some of its organizational features. It really is a pretty clean profile, again, a lightweight design here. So you don't see a lot of excessive pocketing or organizational features. But you do have a sizable zippered compartment here at the bottom of the pack, basically underneath the child’s seat, so a great place to throw diapers or extra clothes or any other clothes or gear you might want to carry with you.
You also have stretch mesh pockets here on those side panels. So whether you are going to bottle or even a child’s toy close at hand, you have got a little bit of handy storage there as well.
I really like that clean profile, a nice simple design, but really German engineering in play here as is the case with Deuter, so you can be confident in the safety of your child and those comfort features ensure that you and your child enjoy your time together.
