The Deuter company was founded by Hans Detuer in 1898 making it one of the oldest backpack manufacturers in the world. Since the '30s Deuter has collborated with alpine sports professionals to test its backpacks under extreme conditions, setting its sights on constant improvement.
Boasting an innovative back ventilation system, 2685 cubic inches of capacity, and great suspension for backpackers with longer than average torso lengths, the Deuter Futura Pro 44 EL pack is well equipped for overnight backcountry trips.
Made specifically with taller backpackers in mind, the EL carry system is slightly longer than that of Deuter's standard backpacks to fit individuals with a torso length of 20"-24". The Futura Pro 44 EL utilizes the Aircomfort Futura Pro Back System, consisting of a lightweight, flexible, anatomically shaped spring steel frame that hugs your torso and supports and adds tension to a mesh back panel. Moist air can freely escape through the space created between the pack body and your back, preventing heat buildup. Soft, breathable fabrics and ventilated pads in the back, shoulder straps and VARIFLEX pivoting hipbelt further help to keep you cool and comfortable on the trail. Load adjuster straps and shoulder and lumbar padding further aid in the effective distribution of weight throughout the pack. Side compression straps enable you to reduce and expand the size of the pack body as needed, further securing contents and ensuring stabilization of the load.
A zippered divider between the Futura Pro 44 EL’s top loading main compartment and front entry sleeping bag compartment allows for organization and separation of wet and dry gear. When hauling longer items or in need of access between the two compartments, you can unzip the divider and convert the Futura Pro 44 EL to a single, large compartment. An additional large front zippered pocket offers organizational options and increased storage. Internal and external zippered pockets on the Futura Pro 44 EL’s lid and zippered side bellows pockets provide further storage options. A front stash pocket with weather-resistant zipper offers convenient, easy-access to stowed gear.
Other special features of the Deuter Futura Pro 44 EL include ice axe/trekking pole loops, top lid attachment rings, and an integrated rain cover for protecting your pack against the elements. Two side stretch pockets allow for transportation of water bottles and a lined internal pocket, built-in tube exit point, and tube clip on the shoulder strap make the pack compatible with a hydration system (sold separately).
