Drawing on true alpine experience, the Deuter Freerider Pro 30 ski/snow pack offers varied carry options and organizational solutions for winter sports. With 1850 cubic inches of storage space and stand-out features, the Freerider Pro 30 pack is ready for cold-weather adventure.

The Freerider Pro 30 utilizes Deuter's Alpine Back System. Comprised of two vertical padded foam strips and two crossed, removable aluminum stays, the Alpine Back System offers stability and comfort while providing a "chimney" at the spinal column for ventilation. The suspension comfortably accommodates torso sizes ranging from 16"-21" in length. A pivoting Vari-Flex hipbelt mirrors your movements, keeping the pack out of your way while you concentrate on skiing, snowboarding or snowshoeing. Anatomically contoured shoulder straps enhance flexibility, comfort and precision fit. Ventilated pads in the back, shoulder straps and hipbelt help to keep you cool and comfortable on your adventures. Load-lifter straps and a sternum strap work in tandem with the shoulder and lumbar padding to effectively distribute weight throughout the pack, further ensuring stability and comfort.

External attachment points abound on the Freerider Pro 30. Horizontal front straps safely secure a snowboard or snowshoes. Additional attachment points give you the option of carrying skis vertically, diagonally or in an A-frame position. Rugged Hypalon material positioned across the face of the pack protects the Freerider Pro 30 from the wear and tear of crampons, skins, bindings or other winter gear.

A panel-loading packbag provides the Freerider Pro 30 with 1850 cubic inches of storage capacity. The access point is strategically positioned to allow entry to the packbag without the need to unlash gear. In fact, you can place the pack face down on the ground and access the pack from behind so that the suspension system doesn’t pick up snow or moisture that would otherwise be transferred to your back when you put the pack back on. Stretch side pockets, a fleece-lined goggle pocket and an integrated hipbelt pocket provide further storage options.

Other features found on the Freerider Pro 30 include a shovel head pocket, an internal probe/handle sleeve and a removable helmet. An internal pocket and built-in tube exit point make the Freerider Pro 30 hydration compatible (hydration system not included).

Doesn't get better

Likes: Tough materials, sturdy zippers. So much room. This is the best bag ice ever owned.

Dislikes: None

Likes: Deuter packs never cease to amaze me in terms of quality and function. This is the 2nd Deuter pack I own and will not be the last. I bought it for backcountry skiing and snowshoeing since areas I play in have great ski approaches and then require snowshoes for the steep hill ascents. This pack is great for that but I have also worn it skiing at resorts in the U.P. of Michigan and it works well there too. You don't notice it on your back and the features are great. Plenty of room for necessities and the zip open back is a nice touch. The zipper pulls are easy to use with gloves on and the soft, cloth goggle storage is very nice. I am glad I stepped up to this model.

Dislikes: Honestly nothing. Great niche pack that carries my skis and snowshoes gracefully.

Likes: This backpack is perfect for any snow sports. It can carry ski, snowboard and helmet. It also has pockets for you to put goggles, gloves, etc. I am pretty sure I will be using it for the whole season.

Dislikes: It is a little heavy, due to the materials and lots of zippers / pockets. My suggestion for the next version:
1. Use a lighter material for some parts of pack;
2. remove 2 outside bottle pockets, we only use bladder or keep the bottle inside the bag from freezing
3. Reorganize the inside pockets, reduce the number
4. Make the outside zipper waterproof.
