The versatile, mid-sized Deuter ACT Lite 50+10 pack provides backpackers with 3051 cubic inches of storage capacity and carrying comfort at less than 4 pounds, making it ideal for overnight or weekend backpacking trips.
Lightweight, comfortable and full of features, the Deuter ACT Lite 50 Plus 10 is a great option for any weekend backpacking trip or even ultra light extended trips. Let’s take a look at some of its features.
I am going to turn the pack around and take a look at the suspension system in play. We are using Deuter’s Air Contact Suspension System with the Variquick Adjustable Harness. So it is a really nice well padded suspension system. You have got some aluminum stays in here to provide some rigidity and also a nice frame sheet in there to give it some extra structure.
You have got some really nice 3D air mesh for breathability and cushion. So we have got really kind of thick padding there. It offers great comfort. That air mesh goes all the way down into the hip belt. So you have got good comfort and breathability there all the way down and throughout and into the shoulder straps of the harness. The nice thing there is that they kind of come around the edge there so it has got a nice soft edge on that shoulder harness. It reduces the chafing and abrasion on your shoulders.
It is a very easily adjustable system. So we have got that Variquick harness there. All you have to do is break that Velcro and you can slide this harness up and down to fit your torso size. So it is a one size pack. It is very easy to adjust though. It fits many different size torsos. And you can see there that it is just very easy to adjust. Loosen it from those loops there and you can move it up and down as needed. Simple and efficient suspension system in play, load lifter straps, a nice hip belt strap there and a sliding sternum strap for some extra security. So we have got really nice things all in play on the suspension of the pack.
Some additional things that we have got going on in the back portion of the pack here, we do have a hydration compatible pack. So here at the top there is a nice little port to route your hose. And on the inside there is a sleeve where you can hang or place that bladder, so a really easy system there. You can route it out through one of your shoulder straps so you have easy access to your water.
We do also have a single hip belt pocket on the pack. So at the bottom on the right hand side, there is a nice small hip belt pocket, good for essentials like a cell phone, a granola bar or anything like that you may want to get your hands on pretty quickly. You know, maybe some emergency supplies if you need to store them there, but a nice easy pocket to access.
Turning the pack back around we have some cool features and we will take a look at the access points for the pack.
So it is a top loading backpack, kind of a traditional top loading style. So you have two buckles on the front and you can kind of toss that hood back and you can see you have kind of got an extended top collar here. So the naming, that 50 Plus 10, the Plus 10 refers to the spin drift collar. So you can actually extend that collar up an additional 10 liters to kind of overstuff the pack. So you have got good access at the top of the pack. Like I said, you have got this spin drift collar here so you can kind of overstuff it if you need to. And it provides really easy access to all of your gear.
We do have a hood on the pack and the hood does have a pocket in there. So you have got really easy access to some items in the hood of the pack if you need maps, guide books, anything like that. You can easily access them in the top of the hood of the pack.
Down at the bottom we do have a lower compartment or a sleeping bag compartment. So that is an easy to access pocket down here. It is a nice U shaped zipper, so it provides really simple access to a sleeping bag or anything you may want to keep separate from the rest of the pack’s contents.
There is a separated divider here. It is just a zippered divider. You can easily drop that out if you choose to and have one continuous pack bag, or you can leave it zipped up as I have here and have those two separate compartments, so a nice organizational feature to the ACT Lite.
Some other features we have on the backpack, we have got two stretchy side pockets, one on either side. You have got compression straps on either side as well. So at the bottom, a nice water bottle pocket or for some other gear if you choose to put that there with compression so you can really cinch down that item or just the load in general. So, like I said, one on either side of the backpack with those compression straps.
We do have tool loops at the bottom of the pack, so dual tool loops with bungee tie offs, so simple bungee tie offs. You can use that for ice tools, mountaineering axes, trekking poles, if you choose to do that, even an avalanche shovel if you have got one of those. You can easily lash those guys to the front or the outside of the pack.
You do have a stretchy front pocket, easy, large compartment for some extra layers, some wet clothing if you choose to put that there, but nice stretchy pocket, really breathable mesh there. So you can really kind of overstuff the pack again.
So there you have it, lightweight at three pounds and 13 ounces, the Deuter ACT Lite 50 Plus 10 is a great option for your next backpacking adventure.
