The streamlined Deuter ACT Lite 35+10 SL Women’s pack provides hikers with 2135 cubic inches of storage capacity and carrying comfort at just 3.5 pounds, making it ideal for long day hiking trips or overnight excursions.
With a very minimal yet technical design, the Deuter ACT Lite 35 Plus 10 SL Pack is perfect for those lightweight backpacking adventures, trekking, traveling, mountaineering, whatever you can throw out it when you want a technical pack that is very lightweight and streamlined, but also has those specific features that you need for those adventures.
The first thing to call out about any backpack is the suspension system and how it carries the load. So I want to turn the pack around and talk about that first. You have got the Air Contact Back system by Deuter. It is a very popular and very comfortable. If I peel away these straps you can see how much padding there is all along the back panel. So you have got your shoulder harness and these two channels right here where you have got all the padding that you need, all the comfort that you need to carry the weight of this pack with a very comfortable channel in the middle. This is going to allow warm air to escape. It is going to feel very cool while you are hiking and adventuring with this pack.
The shoulder harness is adjustable. So you can really dial in that fit. It is Deuter’s Very Quick Suspension System. It is just Velcro here. You undo that and you are able to put it on any of these adjustments. So it is very quick to adjust it up and down, it dial it in to your fit. And then, along with that, you have got really nice load lifter straps that are going to pull in the top of the load towards your shoulders and that is definitely going to work with your torso length.
This is a women’s specific pack or it is the SL version. That stands for slim line. And what that means is the torso length is a little bit shorter. The features here are more suited for a woman’s frame. So you have a more narrow shoulder base here. The shoulder straps are more contoured. The shoulder straps are a little bit shorter and just more suited for those smaller framed individuals.
The padding on the shoulder harness and on the hip belt is very technical padding. It is a bilaminate foam. And that is going to really conform to your body. It is going to conform to your contours. It is going to fit really well and that is going to cut down on hot spots. So the foam there, you have got mesh on top of that foam, if I turn that around. But you have just got so much padding here and that padding is going to keep you very comfortable.
If I peel away the hip belt down here, it is that same story. So you have got a nicely contoured hip belt with some different materials here that are really going to hug around your hips and transfer that weight down to your hips. You do have a rigid back panel that is behind the scenes here. It is a lightweight, aluminum X frame. So you have got stays behind the scenes that really support the weight of this pack. It is going to support the weight of up to about 28 pounds. So certainly consider that before taking it on your next adventure.
Other features here, it is hydration compatible. So you can put up to a three liter bladder in there. And you can route the hose to either side. You have also got an adjustable sternum strap and that sternum strap is stretchy. So as you are moving in those aerobic activities, you are going to be able to breathe while still offering all that support strap gives.
The pockets are really great. They are pretty streamlined for this pack. But it is just enough organization that you need. So the first pocket I want to call out you have got one side of the hip belt has a pocket here to store small items. The other side of the hip belt doesn’t have a pocket. They want to keep it nice and light weight. There is a pocket up here on the lid. I have just got some extra fuel stored in there, but it is a medium sized pocket.
This lid actually comes off of the pack and you can actually turn this into a summit pack or a small day pack. It is about 15 liters, so if you are, you know, base camping and you want to go out for the day, you can remove this top lid and take it with you.
Here on the side you have got stretchy pockets on both sides and then you also have some compression straps. I have some tent poles tucked away in here to show the depth of that pocket. It is very stretchy. It is a really nice pocket there. ANd then you do have those compressions traps. So if you don’t have this pack packed out completely, you can compress everything down to a nice size.
On the other side I have a water bottle tucked in there to show that pocket. Stretchy mesh pocket on the front. I have got maps tucked away in there. So a pocket I really appreciate. You don’t notice it is there when you don't need it, so it is very lightweight. And if I open the lid, another hidden pocket behind that lid.
This is a top loading pack and, as the name suggests, it is the 35 Plus 10, meaning that it is a 35 liter pack in its own right, but then this top collar right here gives you an extra 10 liters of capacity should you need it. So let’s say you are traveling and you have got some extra gear in there, you can use this top, this top part. A really wide opening here in the top, so just... you can access your gear really easily and then cinch everything down.
Moving down the pack there is no access into the sides here. They keep the weight down by not adding all those pockets and zippers. But you do have a lower sleeping bag compartment. This sleeping bag compartment is nice, because you have got a divider here from the bottom to the middle of the pack. You can access gear that you want to get your hands on quickly there if you need it, reach into your pack, there. Or if you have bigger items that need to take up that whole space. So really convenient there.
Moving down to the bottom of the pack you do have really durable materials here in the bottom. So, again, with the lightweight feel of this pack, the minimal design, you have very lightweight materials. But down on the bottom, the area that would come into contact with the ground is going to be extremely durable here. And then you have got tool loops to attach gear onto the bottom.
The last quick features here you will notice some small loops. There is four of them here. You can buy a helmet accessory kit separately to put either climbing helmets, ski helmet, whatever helmet you would like to put on the front. So that adds value to that. So that is what those little straps are for. And then you have trekking pole attachment loops or tool loops on either side here. So with all the features you get a very feature rich pack, technical features for those different sports when you want to be outside carrying all the gear that you need for either a day trip or if you are backpacking or trekking, all the gear you need for multiple days on the trail.
It is extremely versatile, extremely adjustable and very comfortable with that suspension system. It is the Deuter ACT Lite 35 Plus 10 SL Pack.
