Despite weighing just 15.8 ounces per pair, Komperdell Contour Titanal II trekking poles provide excellent versatility, stability, and durability. These aluminum, two-section poles also feature easy-to-use external locking mechanisms.
The Komperdell Contour Titanal Trekking Poles are extremely versatile for a variety of trekking and hiking conditions. They are extremely stable and they are also very durable despite their extremely low weight. You have got a couple of different features going on here that do offer a lot of versatility. The first thing I want to point out is they are a two section aluminum trekking pole. So you just have two sections here, an upper shaft and a lower shaft and that is part of what lets it come down to that really low weight. So you don’t have many different overlapping shaft sections there. You have got one external locking mechanism. And this is extremely easy to use. So, as you can see, I simply flipped that lever open with my thumb, flick it open. You adjust it to your preferred height. And it is going to adjust from about 105 centimeters all the way up to 140 centimeters which is a very, very adjustable for, you know, a trekking pole of this weight. So you can see it says: Stop, right at 140 centimeters. And you know that is the highest adjustment there.
So once you have adjusted it, all you will have to do is flick that lever closed with your thumb. It couldn’t be any easier to adjust. So you do have that lightweight aluminum, but it is also very durable.
Going up to the grip here you have a really interesting grip design. So starting at the top these are foam grips. So what I like about foam is that they are really soft on your hands. They do give a little bit of padding there. The foam is extremely durable so it is going to last a long time and in a variety of conditions. So in warmer temperatures, foam is extremely great at wicking away sweat and then in the winter, in cold activities, foam is great against gloves. If you are wearing gloves it is going to be really great there and you don’t feel the cold through that foam. So you have a nice ergonomic grip on the top. It is very lightweight. You even have a little bit of area on the very top of this grip so you can palm the top if you need to use it that way. So really nice and comfortable. You do have an adjustable strap. It is really easy to adjust there, you know, with the mechanism that it has got in there. And it is a very padded, comfortable strap.
And, as you can see, below this grip you have an extra large extended foam that goes almost half way down the pole. So this is a longer extension than I have seen on a lot of other trekking poles. This allows you to grip this pole pretty much at any spot. So as you are on expeditions if you are going uphill, downhill and you need to grab this pole at a lower spot or at a higher spot, it is really easy to do that. You don’t have to make adjustments to the actual pole itself. So that cuts down on time. So this just... it is really easy to grip. You have got all these grips there and it is that same foam. So really great extension there since it is foam it is also very lightweight.
Moving down the pole, down to the bottom, you have a carbide flex tip there. So you have a carbide tungsten end. That is going to provide a lot of durability against the trail and it does really give good bite into the trail. So you are going to have great traction there. And it does come with performance baskets. So these baskets are great for non winter activities when you are not in the snow. They are lightweight and they just go right on to the pole like that. So really easy to use baskets. They are removable. So if you want to purchase snow baskets separately you can certainly do that and use these as more expedition poles in any condition throughout the year.
Overall they are a very lightweight, two section pole. They are very easy to use with that locking mechanism and they are great in a variety of conditions. They are the Komperdell Contour Titanal 2 Trekking poles.
