Lightweight and durable, the Outdoor Research Women’s Aspire Jacket utilizes PFC-free GORE-TEX Paclite fabrication and fully taped seams to fend off moisture while offering maximum breathability.

Despite its hardshell protectiveness, the jacket’s fabric has an extremely soft “hand”. By using a PFC-free waterproof solution, the fabric diminishes environmental concern without sacrificing performance. The fabric is also highly breathable, but built in TorsoFlo side zips maximize ventilation with two-way zippers that run from the bicep to the hem of the jacket and allow built-up heat to escape. This feature also allows for poncho-style ventilation if you pass your backpack's waistbelt underneath the jacket, allowing you maintain maneuverability without jeopardizing the jacket's waterproof protection or your own comfort. A fully-adjustable hood extends weather protection. Adjustable elastic cuffs and an elastic drawcord hem help to enhance fit.

Other features include an internal front stormflap behind the two-way front zipper, an internal key clip, a built-in carabiner loop, a zippered external chest pocket, and two zippered hand pockets. The hand pockets are set high so you can access them even if you are wearing a backpack and the left pocket also doubles as a stuff sack for the jacket.

Available in your choice of size and color options, the Outdoor Research Women’s Aspire Jacket has a standard fit that leaves room for baselayers in warmer temperatures or lightweight insulation or mid layers in colder weather.

All around awesome jacket
Reviewed by Ryan M. - February 7, 2019

Likes: Bought this for my girlfriend and she loves it. The GORE-TEX has kept her dry without any issues thus far. This is the second Outdoor Research product we have purchased, and both have lived up to our expectation of the brand.

Dislikes: Hood could be a little bigger (not ideal if you are wearing a helmet).

Love the Jacket but the hood has issues - had to return.

Likes: I received my aspire jacket a about a week ago. I've only worn it walking my dogs and around town... no mountain use yet, but, it has rained here and it is always quite windy where I live.

So far, the jacket is waterproof and is a great shell. I am 5'4" & 144lbs. I am pear shape, so small top and I have some hips lol. I got a medium size and am able to wear 2 mid layers under this jacket. It still feels quite comfy and mobility is good with the layering. However, the hood is the killing point for me....

Dislikes: The only con I have is the hood. When tightening the crown, the elastic is placed quite high and easily slips off the crown of your head in the wind. Yes, you can cinch down further with the side elastics of the hood, but i do not always want my whole face covered. There is also quite a bit of overall rise in the jacket when maneuvering with the hood on. I think if the hood was a bit more adjusted for fit and length, this would be the ultimate jacket.

I tried playing with the hood adjustments to see if I could find a proper fit, but ultimately i have returned this jacket...a proper hood is very important to me for wind/weather protection and mobility.

Unless you like ill-fitting hoods and don't mind the jacket rising when hood is in use, i would not recommend.
