While backpacking boots are known for their stability, they can also be heavy and cumbersome. The Salomon Men's Quest 4D GTX boot draws upon Salomon’s trail running heritage to offer waterproof protection and excellent support in an extra light package that doesn't compromise on responsiveness and agility.

The Men's Quest 4D GTX features a water-resistant textile upper that provides a comfortable fit, and strategic overlays improve durability and increase stability. A waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX Performance Comfort bootie keeps feet dry, and a gusseted tongue further ensures protection against moisture and debris. Self-locking eyelets keep laces in place, allowing you to dial in the fit. Extended padding above the protective rubber heel cup delivers extra comfort while stretch fabric at the top rear of the boot helps to keep dust and debris from sneaking inside.

Under foot, Salomon’s 4D Advanced Chassis offers the support and protection required for backpacking while remaining ultra lightweight. Molded EVA foam in the midsole maximizes comfort. An EVA-shaped footbed and OrthoLite insole further enhance comfort and fit.

The non-marking Contragrip outsole utilizes aggressive lugs to deliver enhanced traction. The rubber toe cap protects your toes from rocks and roots.

Sold in pairs, the Salomon Men's Quest 4D GTX backpacking boot is available in men's full and half sizes.

Likes: Great quality and hands down the by far the most comfortable footwear of any kind that I have ever worn. Great ankle support and solid outsole but feels like a tennis shoe. You just have to wear them for that to make sense. After I wore them at work for a couple of weeks I bought a second pair to keep clean for wearing around town. I have never done that with any kind of footwear before. Yes they are expensive if you can't catch them on sale. I probably should not admit it, but if I had to I would pay more and would not blink a eye.

Dislikes: nothing

Likes: Best hiking boots are the best you can buy for so many reasons, its no accident this boot is standard issue to a lot of special forces units around the world. The only boot IMHO that is on par with this boot is the Asolo Fugitive GTX. The Quest is just a bit ahead in comfort I think.

Dislikes: This boot is close to perfect.
