Details

Incorporating the award-winning design of the Nimbus Ozone, the Granite Gear Nimbus Trace 62 offers greater load-carrying capacity and additional organizational features while still weighing less than you'd expect of a heavy-hauler. An excellent balance of weight and performance, the Nimbus Trace 62 comfortably carries loads of up to 40 pounds while weighing in at right around 4 pounds.

The Nimbus Trace 62 is available in two torso sizes. The packbag on the Regular torso offers 3800 cubic inches of storage capacity and the Short torso size offers 3400 cubic inches. Lending extreme versatility, a well-designed external compression strap system allows you to securely cinch down gear. Underneath a floating and removable lid, an extendible spindrift collar protects the interior of the Nimbus Trace 62's large single compartment. The collar rolls down and cinches closed while overlapping, integrated buckles strap down to accommodate loads of varying sizes. When removed from the Nimbus Trace 62, the lid converts into a streamlined hip pack for day hiking and summit assaults.

Made of a reinforced composite material, the Nimbus Trace 62's Topoflex framesheet is ready-made for heavy hauling. The streamlined, contoured framesheet balances rigid support with flexible response, allowing the Nimbus Trace 62 to move with you while keeping your load balanced and secure. The height of the framesheet can be adjusted to account for varying torso lengths. The lumbar portion of the framesheet functions like a shock-absorbing spring and enhances comfort and performance. A pivoting, cushioned hipbelt helps to further balance the weight of the pack without limiting mobility. A fully padded backpanel provides a layer of cushioning and comfort. Adjustable padded shoulder straps, an adjustable sternum strap and load-lifter straps combine to further optimize fit.

To guarantee that the Nimbus Trace 62 fits like a glove, Granite Gear offers swappable hipbelts and shoulder harnesses. The Small hipbelt fits waists ranging from 26"-30", the Medium hipbelt fits waists ranging from 30"-34" and the Large hipbelt fits waists ranging from 34"-38". The appropriate shoulder harness size is based on the girth measurement of your chest. The Small harness fits chest sizes ranging from 27"-34", the Medium harness fits chest sizes ranging from 34"-40", the Large harness fits chest sizes ranging from 40"-46" and the Extra Large harness fits chest sizes ranging from 46"-52".

A large vertical mesh pocket on the front of the packbag offers voluminous storage for clothes or other gear. Two large elastic pockets on either side of the Nimbus Trace 62 safely stow water bottles and two zippered mesh pockets higher on the packbag keep essentials handy and aid in load organization. A built-in tube exit port and a narrow lined internal pocket make the Nimbus Trace 62 hydration system (sold separately) compatible. The external compression system and reflective daisy-chain shoulder attachment points provide numerous places to lash additional gear to the outside of the Nimbus Trace 62.

Constructed of 70D Ripstop and 210D Nylon Cordura, the Granite Gear Nimbus Trace 62 is available in your choice of colors and torso lengths.

Likes: Top of the line quality. You won't find a better made pack. Cordura fabric is practically bombproof. Fit and comfort are top notch and adjustment is such that I can't see very many people not being able to get a good fit. The frame sheet will support more load than other Granite Gear Packs so it does add to the weight but not by alot unless you're a real ounce counter. Sale price here was a good deal and shipping was fast.

Dislikes: Interior water bladder pocket is useless and a bad idea but I know a lot of companies do it. It takes away from interior space in a pack thats not big to begin with and also theres too much chance for leakage (which happens) and wet gear.

Likes: Light, flexible, comfort, great support, make sure to dial in the adjustable straps

Dislikes: Lack of pockets, and spot to hang/hold staff from, but then its probably the price we pay to stay light
