An ultra-lightweight option for travelers, bird watchers, or photographers, the Kompderdell Camera Staff Carbon doubles as a hiking staff and a camera monopod. With three telescoping sections, the versatile, carbon/aluminum staff has a broad range of height adjustability.
The Komperdell Camera Staff Carbon is the perfect option for travelers, hikers, photographers, bird watchers who are looking for an ultra lightweight, but durable single staff that they can use while walking and while travelling, but also doubles as a monopod for a small camera.
This pole stands out to me because it has got durable carbon construction so they keep the weight down there. But the lower shaft section here is made of titanal aluminum. So you have the durability of that aluminum and you have a lightweight features of that carbon.
This is a three sectioned telescoping staff. So you do have two external locks here. The external locks couldn’t be any easier to adjust. You just simply flick that lock open with your thumb, you adjust it to the property height and then you flick it closed. So it has a really strong hold once you flick that closed, but it doesn't require a lot of force to open and close it with your thumb. So very easy to adjust there. The bottom section is the same way. Flick it open and they make adjustments really easy. The bottom section here they do have a marking where you need to adjust that trekking pole out to a certain point. So it says: Extend to here, right here on the bottom. So you know you have got to extend that pole out to that point. Since this does taper down into the bottom of the pole, you have to make sure that that is all the way out and extended for the most secure grip. So once you have extended that bottom section, you can go ahead and make your adjustments on the top.
So this pole extends from 115 centimeters at the low end all the way up to 150 centimeters at the top. So this works great as a staff. It is going to be tall enough to use as that staff, but it has all those adjustments. It is going to be versatile in a variety of conditions and for a variety of users. So I will extend that down. Say I need it at 120 centimeters and I am ready to go. So really easy to use and those external locks are really great.
Moving up to the top you do have a nice foam grip and it is an extended grip so you can grip it at a couple of different spots there. The thing I love about foam is you can use it in a variety of temperatures. So in the summer the foam is going to be really wicking against sweat and perspiration. But in the winter if you are wearing gloves it is going to work really well there.
The show stopper here is the top of the pole. So you do have kind of a cork topper. You can palm the top of this so it is big enough for that, if you are going to use the staff in that way. But this does come off and it doubles as a streamlined monopod for a camera. So you have got that fitting there. And then because this pole adjusts up and down to be short and to be really tall, you can make those adjustments, you can make it tall enough to be at your eye level if you are standing to take photos. So that is a really great feature there. When you are done using it you just put that top right back on there. You do have an adjustable strap to just take some strain off of your wrists.
So it is a feature rich pole, but it is very lightweight. Since you have those three sections it does pack down to be rather small, so easy to travel with as well. And then down here at the bottom you have a really durable tip. It is a tungsten carbide tip. It is going to last a long time. It is going to be durable and against snow, against trails it is going to give you a lot of grip there. ANd then it does come with small performance baskets.
Now if you do need to use this in winter conditions, if you are in powder and in snow, you can purchase bigger diameter powder baskets. They will fit on there as well. But it does come with that smaller performance basket.
Overall really versatile, lightweight, but durable staff here. It is the Komperdell Camera Staff Carbon.
