Delivering the all-weather reliability normally associated with synthetic insulation and the lightweight, compressible performance of down, the Big Agnes Spike Lake 15 Degree sleeping bag utilizes treated down insulation to deliver 3-season backpacking performance.
The Spike Lake 15 Degree bag is insulated with 600-fill DownTek insulation. Down insulation has long been renowned for its compressible properties and efficiency in delivering an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. The shortcoming of down has been its susceptibility to the effects of moisture, losing much of its performance qualities when wet or damp. DownTek insulation utilizes nano technology and a proprietary application process to provide water-repellency and both anti-microbial and anti-bacterial protection. A nylon rip-stop shell further protects the insulation from moisture while providing lightweight durability.
Baffled construction helps to eliminate cold spots. Other features include a thermally-efficient mummy-cut, an insulated and contoured hood, and a draft tube that runs the length of the 65” zipper to lock in heat and keep out cold air. Integrated internal loops enable you to use the bag with a liner (sold separately).
Available in Regular (fits to 6’ 0") and Long (6’ 6") lengths, each Big Agnes Spike Lake 15 Degree sleeping bag includes a mesh storage sack and a nylon stuff sack.

Real Customer Reviews
- Can’t fault it for doing with it says it will do.
Likes: Would definitely be toasty in sub 30 degree temperatures. Used it 8 nights, and could only stay in it the one night it got down to 30 degrees. Even using it as a blanket proved to be too warm in the 40’s and 50’s. But I am a warm sleeper. So, I cannot fault the bag for doing what it is supposed to.
When I did get in it, I found it to be roomy enough (I am 5’ 11”).
Dislikes: Above 30 degrees, I could not sleep in this bag. It is warm. It was hard not to sweat even with nothing but a short.
- Excellent in the cold.
Likes: Affordable and comfortable. Light weight. Fits in my backpack.
I could sleep very comfortably and pull the drawstring and be extra warm on a chilly night. The chin baffle really kept my body heat in. I even had extra room in my foot box for my little mini daschund and we were both warm.
- Comfortable and Warm
Likes: Lightweight, packs easily and fluffs up nicely when unpacked, warm, perfect size (I'm 5'8" female, 145lbs). I love that it is down yet water resistant. Haven't used down to 15 degrees yet, but kept me more than toasty warm in the 30's in the Colorado mountains.
- Fantastic value
Likes: True temperature rating, durable but lightweight construction, great loft!
Dislikes: Footbox is a little small for my 5'11 200lb frame but I understand the design decision and the rest of the bag has a roomy cut.
- Comfy Warm bag at a great price
Likes: I just started buying backpacking gear and I researched bags for days. Unfortunately the best down sleeping bags come with a hefty price tag. This bag feel into my price range and I didn't know how well the 600 down bag would compress for packing and stay warm. I was impressed on how small you could compress this bag even without a compression sack. With a compression sack you can get it down to the size of a volleyball. At 5'10" I bought a regular sized bag and it fit me perfectly. I took this out in the Utah mountains and slept in an open mesh tent with temp lows at 40 degrees and this bag kept me perfectly warm but never too hot. It's a very comfortable sleeping bag, one of the best bags I've slept in yet. I will be using this bag for many more backcountry trips and I recommend it.
Dislikes: No dislikes yet.
- Very light and its a good quality product.
Likes: as soon as I receive the sleeping bag we went hiking right away at 25 miles Devils Spot in new York . and it was Zero Degree cold. but thanks to my new sleeping bag it really help me keep my body warm at night. its a bit expensive but its all worth it. and with the help of the Specialist gear in Back country edge they help me with a price match so I got a very good deal from them.
Dislikes: not at all .
- So Far, So Good!
Likes: Lightweight, compressible, warm, piping around zippers and tough fabric that keeps the zipper from snagging. I haven't used this bag in really cold temps yet, but I plan to before too long, and I'll update this review accordingly.
Dislikes: The only thing I'd change would be adding loops for lashing to sleeping pad.
