The Big Agnes Slater UL 3+ features lightweight packability, a roomy interior and an enormous front vestibule that makes the tent an extremely livable option for 3-season backpacking or bicycle touring.
The internal dimensions of the Slater UL 3+ are 96" long by 74" wide at the head, tapering to 66" at the feet. Offering 47 square feet of interior space at a trail weight of only 4 pounds, 13 ounces, these specifications make the Slater UL 3+ roomy enough for up to three backpackers and lightweight enough to serve as an extremely spacious 2-person shelter. Dual vestibules – one small, the other oversized -- offer 32 square feet (23 square feet + 9 square feet) of additional weather-protected external storage space. Five interior mesh pockets provide places to stash gear and clothes while integrated gear loft loops offer a connection point for the Big Agnes Large Wall Gear Loft (sold separately).
The Slater UL 3+'s DAC Featherlite NSL aluminum poles are both lightweight and durable. The single hub/pole design works in conjunction with the tent body's integrated DAC Twist Clips to make setting up the Slater UL 3+ fast, easy and intuitive. An eco-friendly anodizing process is used by DAC to treat the poles without the toxic chemicals traditionally used on aluminum tent poles.
The tent body fabric of the Slater UL 3+ is a nylon rip-stop with polyester mesh venting in the dual doors for ventilation. Coated with 1200mm waterproof polyurethane, the silicone-treated rip-stop nylon floor and rainfly are lightweight and durable. All of the Slater UL 3+'s seams are seal-taped with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape (no PVC or VOCs) to further protect the tent from the elements.
If you really want to travel light, leave the tent body at home and use the rainfly alone with the optional Slater UL 3+ Footprint (sold separately) for a tarp-style set-up that weighs a light 3 pounds, 12 ounces.

Real Customer Reviews
- Cavernous Vestibule, overall great tent.
Likes: I have taken this on a short backpacking trip with my two daughters (10 and 13) and our golden retriever. The weather was fair, no rain but warmer and a heavy dew in the mornings. The tent is somewhat cramped for the three of us, the dog stayed in the larger vestibule. Had it rained, there would have been room for the dog inside with us, but it would have been very cramped. The setup was simple and quick. The tent lives up to the company hype, its great overall. Its best feature is the large vestibule. I was somewhat doubtful of the durability, however, after the normal use that I and my family gave it, I am confident that it will suit our purposes fine (1-2 backpacking trips per year). No condensation inside the tent, however, in the vestibule there was some on the inside the first night. Lightweight, for a 3 person.
Dislikes: I deducted one star for the lack of ventilation, the small amounts of mesh made for hot days/evenings. The tent is so light that I would gladly sacrifice the few ounces to add at least one full screen door, two would be awesome.
