Details

With a trail weight of less than 3 pounds, the Big Agnes Seedhouse SL 2 is truly a lightweight favorite. The shape of the tent provides more usable interior volume than most other ultra-lightweight tents, making it ideal for ounce-counters.

The freestanding Seedhouse SL 2 is easy to set up and can be positioned in the ideal location after it's been pitched. The Seedhouse SL 2 uses a DAC Featherlite NSL pole system with Pressfit connectors and lightweight hubs that attach to the tent body with plastic clips for quick and easy set up.

With an interior peak height of 43" and a vestibule area providing 8 square feet of sheltered exterior space for gear, the Seedhouse SL 2 provides sufficient room for two and can serve as a spacious home for solo backpackers. With full nylon mesh side walls, the tent has excellent ventilation that cuts down on condensation. Coated with 1200mm waterproof polyurethane, the nylon rip-stop floor and rainfly are extremely durable. All of the Seedhouse SL 2’s seams are seal-taped with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape (no PVC or VOCs) to further protect the tent from the elements.

Two sewn-in interior mesh storage pockets offer places to stash essentials inside the tent. Integrated gear loft loops offer a connection point for the Big Agnes Triangle Gear Loft (sold separately).

If you want to go even lighter, the optional Seedhouse SL 2 Footprint (sold separately) can be attached to the tent fly eliminating the tent body for light and fast summer backpacking. In this Fast Fly configuration, the Seedhouse SL 2 weighs a mere 2 pounds.

Great for starry nights. Not so great for fog, heavy dew, and rain.

Likes: Light weight is a strong plus. Mesh tent body is easy to pitch. I like how the strap houses the "socket" for the pole and houses the buckle for adjusting tension.

Dislikes: The D-shaped door of the fly does not create a useful vestibule. It is a 3-season tent but if your second season is fog and your third season is rain, as we encounter on the Pacific coast, I do not recommend this tent because the rainfly does not adequately allow a dry entry into the tent body, especially if you need to get up a few times during a damp foggy night. I would suggest redesigning to extend the fly further forward of the tent body with a tunnel descending slightly to an arch entry. It will add a bit of weight but would increase wet wether protection.
