Incorporating performance design with a focus on maximum livability the Big Agnes Flying Diamond 8 is a spacious feature-rich offering for base camping or car camping. Rugged materials weatherproof coatings and sturdy pole construction provide 3+ season functionality.
The Flying Diamond 8 consists of two rooms a large main room and a smaller rear sleeping room. A partition between the two chambers can be stowed converting the Flying Diamond 8 to a single enormous (123 square foot) room. A huge front vestibule offers an additional 35 square feet of weather-protected external storage space and a smaller rear vestibule provides an additional 6 square feet of coverage. Interior mesh pockets increase livability by stowing gear and freeing up floor space. Integrated interior loops offer connection points for up to two Big Agnes Large Trapezoid Gear Lofts (sold separately).
DAC aluminum poles systems with press-fit connectors provide rugged durability. The overlapping design grants reliable structure to the tent. Color-coded webbing and buckles work in tandem with the tent body's integrated sleeves and clips to make it easy to set up the tent. Aluminum stakes are included to fully secure the tent and bolster strength in windy conditions. Reflective highlights in the guyline provide visibility when returning to the tent at night.
The tent body is constructed of durable polyester rip-stop. Nylon mesh windows provide ventilation. A 1500mm waterproof PU coating on the polyester rip-stop rainfly and floor helps to keep moisture from reaching the interior of the tent. Integrated fly vents allow air to circulate. The mesh front and rear doors of the tents further enhance airflow and employ zippered storm flaps for weather protection and privacy. All of the tent's seams are tape-sealed to further protect against the elements. The custom-fit Big Agnes Flying Diamond 8 Footprint (sold separately) can be used to further protect the floor of the tent against moisture rocks and exposed roots.

- Northwest Approved
Likes: Easy to set up (15 min). Very spacious. Gracefully withstood thunder/lightning wind storm with huge (quarter size) hail pelting is on first use. We were safe and comfortable, dry playing cards inside. I’ve smaller backpacking type tents that are 4 season, and have put them to the test in Alaska, and I believe this tent would stand up to these elements just as well. It’s rated as a 3+ season tent... I would be comfortable camping in this year around anywhere in North America.
Dislikes: It’s very large and heavy... since we use it for casual camping this is fine for our family!
- Big tent for the entire family
Likes: Tent is very large. My wife and I have 3 boys and we all fit in this tent perfect. The quality is evident and the color coded poles make setup a breeze.
- Nice tent, a little disappointed in the thickness of the floor.
Likes: Quality poles and good space.
Dislikes: A little concerned with the thickness of the floor. I think for a tent this size, weight should not be a big issue. It seems like you could puncture the floor very easily. For a large family tent, even with the footprint, it makes me nervous.
- Good family tent!
Likes: My husband and I bought this tent as our new family tent. Our 4 year old son has his own room in the back and we use the front area for our double wide sleeping bag, suit case area, and more then enough room for a dressing area/storing extra kitchen/food items.
Dislikes: Wish the back of the tent had window closures as it gets a bit cooler on that side compared to the front of the tent. Will need to put up the rain gear to help with the cooling problem at night.
- Big Tent
Likes: Got tired of kneeling and hiring my knees to get in and out and getting dressed laying down. Solved that problem with this massive tent. Big enough that our air mattress fits in the small room as the bedroom leaving the big room as a living room. Awesome tent
- Awesome Family Tent
Likes: Huge. Tall enough to stand (5'7" and my husband is 5'11"). Kids can run around and still have room for gear and beds. Easy to setup. Great use of space.
Dislikes: None so far. Only set up in basement, but my girls didn't want to take it down. Will update review after we go camping.
