The feature-rich Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL 2 backpacking tent boasts an impressive interior space-to-weight ratio. The balance of weight and performance is sure to appeal to ounce-counters who still appreciate comfort.

Stretching a full 88" in length, the interior of the tent is 52" wide at the head and tapers to a width of 42" at the feet. With 29 square feet of interior space and a trail weight of only 2 pounds, 14 ounces, the tent offers ample room for 2 or serves as a super spacious shelter for solo hikers. Dual vestibules offer 18 square feet (9 square feet per vestibule) of additional weather-protected external storage space. Interior mesh pockets provide places to stash gear and clothes while media pockets located above the sleeping area enable headphone/ear bud cord routing from phones or other devices. Integrated gear loft loops offer a connection point for the Big Agnes Triangle Gear Loft (sold separately).

The tent’s DAC Featherlite NFL aluminum poles are both lightweight and durable. The single hub/pole design works in conjunction with the tent body's integrated clips to make setting up the tent fast, easy, and intuitive. An additional short section of pole runs across the roof of the tent and connects easily via an innovative attachment that pulls the tent body taut, increasing the verticality of the interior walls and helping to maximize the spaciousness of the vestibules. An eco-friendly anodizing process is used by DAC to treat the poles without the toxic chemicals traditionally used on aluminum tent poles. Reflecting an overall commitment to maintaining as light a packed weight as possible, superlight aluminum J stakes are included to further secure the freestanding tent.

Ample mesh on the tent body and the large D-shaped doors encourages cross ventilation and provides circulation to fight condensation build-up. Coated with 1200mm waterproof polyurethane, the rip-stop nylon floor and rainfly are lightweight and durable. All of the tent's seams are seal-taped with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape (no PVC or VOCs) to further protect the tent from the elements.

If you really want to travel light, leave the tent body at home and use the rainfly alone with the optional Copper Spur HV UL 2 Footprint (sold separately) for a tarp-style set-up that weighs a mere 2 pounds, 4 ounces.

Highly recommended!
Reviewed by Marco - February 25, 2018

Likes: Super light. Compact when dissembled. Easy to set up. Very roomy when set up.

Dislikes: The floor is very made out of the same light weight material as the rest of the tent. A bit concerned about durability when using without a footprint.

Good lightweight 2 person tent.
Reviewed by Seadog - February 5, 2018

Likes: -spacious 1 person or adequate 2 person backpacking tent.
-huge double vestibule.
-I can sit upright in it.
-fairly light.

Dislikes: A few times while using this tent in especially heavy rain storms, I noticed small amounts of water spray on my face. The very top of the rain fly tends to pool up water slightly in substantial rain, which leads to the misting. That being said, it has kept me relatively dry in extremely wet conditions.

Great Product
Reviewed by Kyle B. - February 1, 2018

Likes: This tent is great. it packs down very small and is quite roomy inside. The storage pockets with headphone holes is a nice addition. The vent piece is good for preventing unwanted condensation. The pole system is well designed and includes a repair piece in case something happens. Overall it seems decently durable for the weight, I would however recommend picking up a groundsheet to protect the bottom from tears.

Dislikes: The second smaller pole used to stretch out the top were difficult to get into the pockets on the rain fly the first few times I set it up.

Very light
Reviewed by Mehdi M. - January 1, 2018

Dislikes: None so far.

Amazing Tent!
Reviewed by Andrew N. - October 19, 2017

Likes: The HV edition of the Copper Spur is a big improvement. It feels so much roomier and the zippers have been improved. I really like the olive green color as it blends in with the forest. Its still very light and I highly recommend getting the footprint. Backcountry Edge was so awesome to work with!

Dislikes: None so far. Everything about this tent has impressed me!

Awesome quality
Reviewed by Erik M. - August 8, 2017

Likes: I set this tent up in my bedroom first night. Took about 3 minutes and everything seemed to be well thought out and quality along with being super light and roomy

Dislikes: I wish they would make it more clear which gear loft you need for each tent. A chart would help

1st Choice for Backpacking or Camping
Reviewed by Beaver - July 31, 2017

Likes: I picked this tent because it is one of the lightest freestanding tents on the market and sets up in a matter of minutes. The almost vertical sideways do make it feel larger than it is and the light weight material feels strong and durable but will still need to use some caution when choosing a setup location. I am able to sleep comfortably with me and my girlfriend in the tent but solo it has plenty of room for all your gear. Overall it is now my go to when camping or out enjoying the backcountry.

Dislikes: Only comes with 8 stakes. Not enough to completely guy out the tent.
Expensive foot print.

Easy, waterproof, roomy
Reviewed by Sierra Z. - July 29, 2017

Likes: Easy to set up with the hub pole design, kept out water well during a downpour in Colorado, roomy enough for two, love the vestibule area to store packs in

Dislikes: Zippers get caught easily

Dislikes: Zippers can be a little cumbersome sliding around door corner when tent is staked taut
