Delivering excellent fit, reliable traction and GORE-TEX waterproof protection, the Asolo Drifter GV hiking boot is ideal for long days on the trail. Hybrid suede and synthetic construction make the boot lightweight, durable and comfortable.
An excellent fit, durable materials, reliable traction and a waterproof membrane make the Asolo men’s Drifter GV an excellent option for long days on the trail. Let’s take a look at its construction and its features.
Starting with the upper we have got a hybrid construction of suede and high tenacity nylon. So we have got some durable overlay here that is going to provide really good life and durability and some extra protection for those materials. And just in general it is a very durable and comfortable material without being too stiff. So it is, you know, a little bit less stiff than a traditional hiking boot. So it gives you less of a break in time. So these guys are going to be more comfortable right out of the box.
Some added bonus down around the toe, we have got a nice rubber toe cap. So that is going to offer some excellent protection from rocks or anything that you might end up scraping up against or kicking while you are on the trail. And, as I mentioned, there is some durable overlay here. So on the side there is this nice stitched over synthetic material. So it is going to protect the leather, prevent it from scuffs and abrasion, add some extra durability to the boot.
This boot does have a completely waterproof membrane. So there is the Gore-Tex water-proof, breathable membrane inside. It is going to give you really reliable weather protection in all kinds of conditions. And it comes up pretty high. There is a gusseted tongue here that ends just above the second eyelet here. So it is going to give you protection almost all the way up to the ankle. So it is really nice confident weather protection there.
A fun fact about Asolo is that they produce 100 percent of their footwear in European Asolo owned factories and 99 percent of the materials that they use are also sourced in Europe, so a pretty neat fact about Asolo.
Moving down to the midsole of this boot we have got a molded EVA midsole for some cushion and structure. And the boot is built on an Aso-flex lasting board. Now it is matched to the last of the shoe and it gives a customized stiffness and flex pattern for the gender and size of the footwear. It is going to provide some under foot protection while maintaining a light weight profile and it gives you that durability and a little bit of insulation as well. So some nice features that come into play with that Asolo flex lasting board.
Finally, moving down to the outsole, we have got a nice Vibram outsole that is really grippy and durable. It is going to give you confident traction on multiple types of terrain. We have got a really neat Aso-brake system in play here. So there is some extra aggressive lugs towards the heel. It is going to give you that extra stopping power or that extra braking ability when you are going down steep descents where you might not want to get out of control, so some really neat features in play on the heel of the boot here.
Another fun fact about Asolo boots is that all of their boots are easily resoled. So if you find that these fit you very well and you are really happy with the construction of the boot, but you just seem to wear down the outsole there, you can get them resoled pretty easily. So a nice added bonus to the Asolo boots there.
So there you have it. Coming from a family owned Italian company, the Asolo men’s Drifter GV is a great option for extended days on the trail, hiking or backpacking.
