The climbing-centric Patagonia Ascensionist Pack 35L is at home on the backcountry trail, but it excels on mountain climbs. The pack’s unique design is function-driven to efficiently carry a load, but it also has versatility and stylish good looks.
The lightweight framesheet made with a mesh-covered aluminum rod provides support for weighted loads and moves with you, yet is completely removable if reducing pack weight is your goal. Ergonomic shoulder straps with load lifters match the shape of your torso for 24-hour comfort, and the waistbelt has removable pads to convert to a minimalist webbed structure if preferable. This waistbelt is designed to stay out of your harness’s way or be completely removed if not needed, as well.
The Ascensionist Pack 35L’s construction eliminates excess fabric; the integrated, asymmetrical spindrift collar that opens wide and closes in a single-motion for fast, hassle-free packing protects your gear from nasty weather, but ensures the pack stays open at hanging belays. The overall asymmetric profile of the Ascensionist Pack 35L allows for elbow clearance, and a zippered vertical pocket on the lid provides quick access to small essentials. There is also an additional spindrift collar that can be deployed when the pack is over-stuffed. Weighing in at just 1 pound, 14 ounces, this strong pack featuring nylon ripstop fabrics has a 2075 cubic inch load capacity in the Small/Medium size and a 2197 cubic inch load capacity in the Large/XLarge.
Additional details found on the pack include compression straps to carry skis and cinch down loads, a hydration reservoir pocket for compatibility with hydration systems (sold separately), a center sheath ice axe carry system and daisy chains on the front and side panels for a variety of gear lashing options.
The Patagonia Ascensionist Pack 35L pack is available in your choice of color and Small/Medium (fits 16"-19" torso lengths) or Large/XLarge (19"-22") sizes.
- Integrated asymmetrical spindrift collar opens wide for easy packing and draws shut in one motion
- Additional spindrift collar to protect gear when pack is overstuffed
- Hip belt has adjustable pads that can be removed to create a simple webbing hip belt, or you can remove the entire hip belt for ultralight travel

Real Customer Reviews
- Really Great Pack
Likes: Nice light weight, good durability, the top opening is really neat and I like how it combines the brain pocket with the ease of no brain. The ice axe holder works securely.
Dislikes: I wish it had a place for water bottle or a hydration system. I got the large size and it still feels too small, unlike my osprey pack.
