Real Customer Reviews
- Great base/mid-layer for cold temps and low activity
Likes: This base/mid-layer keeps you very warm when walking around town in temps between 25-50 degrees F when combined with a lightly insulated jacket. It can be worn on its own at 50-60 degrees F to keep you pretty comfortable in non-windy conditions. I recommend combining the Rho AR Zip Neck with a wind resistant shell in windy conditions as the air passes right through and pulls the warmth away from your core. This top will also keep you very warm in conditions below freezing when combined with an insulated layer and outer shell.
Dislikes: I give this top 4 stars as the metal zipper on the top is exposed when it is not fully zipped (the top of the zipper has a thin fleece fabric that covers the zipper to prevent the metal from rubbing against your neck) which may cause some discomfort or irritation when in direct contact with your skin. For this reason, I generally wear this top as a mid-layer (rather than a base-layer) with a shirt underneath so that the metal zipper never comes in direct contact with my skin. This top can be greatly improved if Arc'teryx extends the thin fleece fabric covering the zipper at the top all the way through the length of the entire zipper.
