This is Marmot’s Nanowave 45 and it’s an ultralight bag. The 45 refers to 45 degrees Fahrenheit so it’s not meant to be a cold weather bag but it will be perfect for warmer temperatures and could potentially work as an overbag for cold weather trips when used in conjunction with a cold weather bag. The Marmot Nanowave 45 is an ultralight summer weight bag that weighs in at 28.9 ounces. So, the story here on the Nanowaves is going to be that they are super lightweight, pack up really small and they are going to be great accessories for anyone who is looking to go backpacking in hot weather but not only backpacking. Because Marmot is using a synthetic SpiraFil in this bag which will keep you warm even if it gets wet, it will be a good accessory or summer weight bag for someone who’s taking a paddling trip or cycling trip where that small pack size is easily going to go into a bicycle pannier or a kayak stern or a backpack. There’s even potential here to toss this in a day pack and be prepared for an emergency. The Nanowave 45 is made from polyester taffeta which is a light and soft fabric that feels nice against the skin and there is a DWR added to this bag so it will shed water and moisture pretty well too. The zipper is easy to use and you’ll note that it doesn’t come to the very end of the bag so you’ve got a bit of a foot-box design. It is two-way zipper that can be used for venting on warmer nights and due to this being a warm weather bag you’ve got a bit of a draft tube but not much in the way of insulation. The zipper is snag free and has a glow-in-the-dark zipper pull so you can find it easily in the middle of the night. The hood is a very simple design with a few baffles and it works well when just lain flat since the bag is meant to be used in warm weather. There are two drawcords at the hood, Marmot’s feely drawcords, so one is flat and one is round, one works the bottom and one works the top. You can snug these in if it is chilly out and tell them apart in the dark by their feel. The Nanowave 45 does come with a compression stuff sack and you can see I’ve got it in here and tightened down it is about the size of a football. So again, very packable, very lightweight; the Nanowave 45 by Marmot.
