The Gravity Jacket from Marmot is a great, softshell piece for aerobic activities in pretty cold climates. I would think of this jacket as sub-30's for very aerobic activities like backpacking, hiking, cross country skiing. What this is going to give you, is it's going to block a lot of wind, if not all of the wind and it's going to give you some water repellancy as well. It's not a fully waterproof jacket, but it's going to take a lot of water to soak this thing out to the point that you would get wet. It's going to roll off a lot of what you would encounter in colder climates, a lot of snow, wet slush, things like that. So what you've got here is a softshell material. It's got some good movement built into it. You do have a small pocket up on the sleeve that is laser-drilled. Other than that, pretty smooth profile. You've got two hand pockets down here. The cords for adjustment around the bottom of the jacket do come into the hand pockets themselves and they are lined with a fleece so they are very comfortable. Aside from that, it's a very nice sleek profile. You've got some Velcro on the cuffs and the inside has a nice soft touch fleece lining which is a very light fleece lining to help hold in a little bit of heat. But for the most part, this is a very breathable piece so you're not going to build up a lot of heat nearly as much as you're going to retain the heat that you need. And you have a single pocket on the inside for tucking away anything that you want to keep close at hand. So that pretty much sums up the Gravity Jacket from Marmot.
