Mammut Lithium Z 15 Day Pack Video

Transcript

I have here the Mammut Lithium Z 15 day pack. This is going to be a pack that is geared towards very fast paced and technical sports such as mountain running, mountain biking or fast hiking and it has a lot of features suited to these sports, so let’s dive into those features. The Lithium Z 15 weighs in at about 1.5 pounds, making it a very lightweight pack, you’ve got four compression straps on the outside here and we’ll unbuckle those to take a look at the inside of the pack now. It has a U-shaped opening at the front which makes it easily accessible since you can fold this back and get a good look at the inside. You have a pocket for a hydration bladder with a velcro clip to hold the hose up and on the back you can see places to run the hose out over either shoulder and some loops here to hold the hose in place making it a good set up for carrying water. There is a small space inside the pack, it’s not huge but there is enough room for a jacket maps, snacks and a headlamp, items of that sort, but not much more room than that and it is one open interior pocket. Aside from the main compartment there are two other pockets on this pack. There is a small zippered pocket at the top here with just enough room for something like sunglasses or a cell phone and that pocket does have a key clip in it. Along the side here you have a long pocket that takes up the whole space behind this green panel, so there’s some extra room there. You can clip items to the outside of this pack if necessary, Mammut has incorporated these gear loops, four of them, on the front of the pack and they are made out a tough, rubber like material, similar to snowshoe decking. A nice additional feature for folks who are moving fast and have trekking poles and want the option to stow them at some point instead of using them, there is a trekking pole stow on this pack. Down here you can see the steel cable that’s anchored in the pack. It can be tucked away and offer a streamlined profile where it won’t catch on things but you can also pull it out and tuck the bottom of your poles in there and then use the adjustable bungee here, lock it in tight, and carry those trekking poles comfortably and very securely on this pack. Taking a look at the underside of the hipbelt you can see it is a very lightweight flexible material and the split hipbelt design curves around the hip and doesn’t leave a bunch of material to bunch and rub at the hip bone. The back panel itself has three patches of perforated foam for support as well as breathability and moving moisture away from the body. These chambers in between here where there isn’t padding allows for airflow. Each side of the Lithium Z 15 has a stretch mesh pocket which can easily hold a water bottle and the lower compression straps help to hold that in there. A few finishing that Mammut puts on the Lithium Z 15 is a reflective light loop, the same reflective loops on the shoulder straps and for those of you considering using this as a day-in day-out pack or for travel there is a haul loop at the top. For those of you looking for a do-it-all pack that can hit the trail with all the features you want and can also be used every day and for travel, the Mammut Lithium Z 15 is rather perfect for that. One of my favorite features for this pack is that the lightweight shoulder straps and hipbelt can tuck away like this and then it can be rolled up into a nice bundle so it can easily fit into a piece of luggage for travelling, taking up little space in another pack and then can be used as a fully featured day pack when you arrive. The Mammut Lithium Z pack is also available in a 20 liter version so if this seems like the right pack for you with the right features but you want some more space I suggest you check out the 20 liter pack.
