The Kelty Shrike is a versatile day pack that offers a variety of features. At 2000 cubic inches, the Shrike is a very roomy day pack. It’s a panel loader with a lot of internal space. It could easily be used as an overnight piece of luggage. You have a hydration sleeve in the back, some key clips for hanging various items too. The Shrike uses an HDPE backpanel which gives it some flexibility and stiffness to support loads, padded shoulder straps with breathable mesh and Kelty uses their dynamic air flow system to create a channel in the center of the pack to ventilate your back. It does have adjustable sternum straps as well as an adjustable and removable hipbelt. Side compression straps secure heavy loads or reduce internal pack volume when the bag is not full. The Kelty Shrike has a large zippered front pocket, lots of internal storage, zippered pockets inside and a good amount of space. A zippered hooded top pocket is a great place to store maps or travel documents. Two mesh side pockets easily fit full sized water bottles. An external haul loop makes the bag easy to pick up from the front. If you’re using it for travel, it helps to store it in overhead bins or under a seat.
