The Vario by Katadyn is the first filter to combine the unsurpassed water flow of a fiberglass filter with the long lifespan of a ceramic filter. Effective down to .3 micron, the Vario is effective against cycsts, bacteria, protozoa, algae, spores, and sediment. The Vario also employs an activated carbon core to help improve the overall taste of the filtered water.

The Vario is a dual piston pump which provides consistent water flow on both the up and down stroke of the pump handle. This makes filtering water a smooth process.

The Vario offers two modes of operation so that users can adjust to the conditions at hand. Longer Life mode uses the ceramic disc when water conditions are turbid or dirty. The ceramic disc is used as a cleanable dirt shield that aides in prolonging the life of the fiberglass filter. Filter output is roughly 1 quart per minute in longer life mode. Faster Flow mode provides just what the name implies. The water is directed directly through the fiberglass filter. This increases the flow of the filter to as much as 2 quarts per minute.

The Vario can deliver filtered water through an included output hose to any water container or it can thread directly on to the top of a wide mouth Nalgene bottle.

Also included are a carrying bag, replacement o-rings, silicone for maintenance of moving parts, and an abrasive pad for cleaning the ceramic disc.
