The Hillsound Trail Crampon Pro is built for winter backcountry hiking, glacier traveling, anywhere where you need some aggressive tracking for winter usage. It isn’t a mountaineering crampon. It isn’t designed specifically for technical hiking, but it will greatly improve traction for your winter adventures.
The Trail Crampon Pro does have an articulated design so there is a right and a left cram-pon included with each pair. Got one here on the boot. I have got one off of the boot.
It should be stated. The Trail Crampon Pro is really only advised for use with a stiff soled boot, something with a shank in it, definitely a strong durable design in these shoes that is best supported by an equally durable piece of footwear.
You can see there is adjustability here in the crampon to accommodate for varying lengths of shoes. The pairs also come in two different sizes, so you have got a slightly different range of adjustability depending on which size of the crampon you purchase.
To best utilize the crampons you would actually pull it over the toe of the shoe, as we have done here. Decide exactly where you need that heel to come and rest in place. There is a small tool included with the crampons that then allows you to secure it in place so it is set exactly where you need it for an appropriate fit.
Across the front of the harness there are two straps that will then meet on the sides of the boot and ratchet into place until, again, you have reached the point that it is an appropri-ate fit for the boot.
Once in place you can be very confident that that Trail Crampon Pro is going to be se-curely where you need it to be for best usage.
You can see that there are very aggressive teeth on the Trail Crampon Pro, again, de-signed for very challenging winter conditions. This is heat treated carbon steel, so very strong, though still light weight as well. You can count on durability with the design here.
You can see some angling on the front teeth. So, again, improves that purchase at the front of the shoe. There is an anti snow pad underneath here on the mid foot. Basically it ensures that snow does not build up beneath the crampon. Should that happen, these teeth would no longer bite and you wouldn’t get the traction that you are able to get because this anti snow pad is in play.
The Trail Crampon Pro, as we mentioned, is sold in pairs, does come in your choice of two different size options. Hillsound does include its nice weather proof storage case. So when you are done using or when you are getting ready to take these with you, they pack safely and securely inside that stuff sack. If you are throwing these in a backpack it also protects the contents of your backpack.
A really nice offering, again, for aggressive winter traction from Hillsound in the Trail Crampon Pro.
