Product Highlights
The Tubbs Xplore Women’s Snowshoe Starter Kit has everything a woman needs to get started in the growing sport of snowshoeing. Available in two sizes, the kit includes a pair of Xplore Women’s snowshoes, a pair of lightweight, adjustable snowshoe poles and a pair of protective women’s gaiters.
The kit is available in two offerings, each with a different sized pair of snowshoes. The pair of snowshoes in the Xplore Women’s Snowshoe Starter Kit-21 is suitable for a total weight (user and gear) of 80-150 pounds. The pair of snowshoes in the Xplore Women’s Snowshoe Starter Kit-25 is suitable for a total weight of 120-200 pounds.
Tubbs was the first manufacturer to offer snowshoes designed specifically for women, introducing women's specific bindings in 1998. Anatomic and ergonomic adjustments are made to each binding to provide the female snowshoe enthusiast with the fit, comfort and performance she deserves. Accounting for the fact that, on average, women have a shorter walking stride than men, Tubbs has tapered the tail on women's specific models to be 15% narrower than the tails found on men's snowshoes, allowing female users to maintain a more natural stride.
Comfort and maneuverability are key elements of winter performance and Tubbs tackles both concerns with the design of the bindings used in their snowshoes. Xplore Women’s snowshoes utilize the easy-to-use Tubbs Quick Fit Binding. Rigid Control Wings found on both the medial and lateral sides of the binding keep your boot centered in the harness for maximum responsiveness. Rotating flexibility in the integrated toe cord allows your boot to pivot independently of the frame of the Xplore Women’s snowshoe, maximizing the penetration of the crampon in the snow base. The rotation also enables the tail to drop away from the binding as you hike, effectively shedding snow, reducing resistance and minimizing the fatigue associated with carrying the unnecessary weight of clinging snow.
The tapered frame of each Xplore Women’s snowshoe is constructed of sturdy 6000 series aluminum. The tapered tail and technical rise of the nose of the frame enhance balance and provide excellent flotation. These ergonomic features allow you to maintain your normal walking stride, increasing the maneuverability of Xplore Women’s snowshoes. Durable, lightweight and waterproof, DuraLight Decking provides dependable flotation (NOTE: A minimum base of 6"-8" of snow is suggested for usage in order to properly protect the integrity of the decking material.). Xplore Women’s snowshoes are outfitted with carbon steel toe and heel crampons that provide constant, dependable traction whether you're moving in an uphill, downhill or side hill direction.
The pair of Tubbs lightweight, 2-part adjustable (105-130 cm), aluminum snowshoe poles lends security and stability on any and all types of terrain. By incorporating arm movements into your snowshoeing activities, you can turn your adventure into a total body fitness workout. The poles also include a powder basket and nylon web straps.
Water resistant, breathable nylon gaiters allow you to enjoy your outdoor experience by keeping snow and moisture from finding its way into your boots. Stay dry all day long!
