Product Highlights

Built for all-terrain performance in challenging winter conditions, the Tubbs Mountaineer snowshoe can tackle steep ascents and technical winter hiking, Cutting-edge bindings, rugged construction and high performance features make the Mountaineer snowshoe comfortable to wear and durable against wear and tear.

The Mountaineer snowshoe is available in three sizes. Measuring 8" x 25", the Mountaineer-25 inch snowshoe is suitable for a total weight (user and gear) of 120-200 pounds. At 9" x 30" per shoe, the Mountaineer-30 inch is suitable for a total weight of 170-250 pounds while the 36 inch length (10" x 36" per shoe) supports a total weight of 220-300 pounds.

The Mountaineer snowshoe utilizes innovative Revolution Response II (RII) articulation to deliver comfort and maneuverability. This design provides shock-absorbing lateral flex, ensuring that your foot remains in a natural position even when you tackle side slope traverses. It also maximizes crampon penetration in the snow base, ensuring efficient control and balance. The rotation also enables the tail of the Mountaineer snowshoe to drop away from the binding as you hike, effectively shedding snow, reducing resistance and minimizing the fatigue associated with carrying the unnecessary weight of clinging snow. The bases of the asymmetric ActiveFit bindings provide maximum support for your boot, securely locking the heel in place. The base is fully adjustable to accommodate varied boot widths.

The frame of each Mountaineer snowshoe is constructed of durable 6000 Series aluminum. The tapered tail and technical rise of the nose of the frame enhance balance and provide excellent flotation. These ergonomic features allow you to maintain your normal walking stride, making the Mountaineer snowshoe extremely maneuverable. A built-in ActiveLift heel lifter lessens the distance that the bottom of your boot travels from the snowshoe deck during climbs. This design improves performance on steep slopes and helps to reduce the fatigue associated with elevation gains.

Extremely durable, the Mountaineer's ArcTec Plus decking material is performance tested to be effective even in temperatures as low as 40 degrees below 0 Fahrenheit. NOTE: A minimum base of 6"-8" of snow is suggested for usage in order to properly protect the integrity of the decking material.

The Mountaineer snowshoe is outfitted with the high performance Tubbs Anaconda/Python crampon system to maintain control and balance in snow and on ice. A carbon steel crampon located under the ball of the foot employs aggressive teeth to provide optimal traction. Razor-sharp teeth in the toe serve as brakes and enhance performance during climbing and traversing. A stainless-steel heel crampon fixed centrally beneath your boot provides the Mountaineer with constant, dependable traction.

The Tubbs Mountaineer snowshoe is sold in pairs.
