Product Highlights

Sporting performance features at a budget-friendly price, Tubbs Frontier Women’s snowshoes are ready-made for winter day hikers and recreational snowshoe users. Easy-to-use bindings, functional design and durable materials provide excellent value for female snowshoe enthusiasts.

Tubbs was the first manufacturer to offer snowshoes designed specifically for women, introducing women's specific bindings in 1998. Anatomic and ergonomic adjustments are made to each binding to provide the female snowshoe enthusiast with the fit, comfort and performance she deserves. Accounting for the fact that, on average, women have a shorter walking stride than men, Tubbs has tapered the tail on women's specific models to be 15% narrower than the tails found on men's snowshoes, allowing female users to maintain a more natural stride.

Frontier Women’s snowshoes are available in three sizes. Measuring 8" x 21" each, Frontier Women’s-21 snowshoes are suitable for a total weight (user and gear) of 80-150 pounds. At 8" x 25" per shoe, Frontier Women’s-25 snowshoes are suitable for a total weight of 120-200 pounds while Frontier Women's-30 snowshoes (9" x 30") support a total weight of 170-250 pounds.

Comfort and maneuverability are key elements of winter performance and Tubbs tackles both concerns with the design of the bindings used in their snowshoes. Frontier Women’s snowshoes utilize the Tubbs Quick Step Binding built on a fully-rotating toe cord. The innovative dual-pull design makes it quick and uncomplicated to slip on the snowshoes and get out into the snow! A midfoot tongue tab provides easy entry and molded toe stops and tongue ensure a comfortable fit. Rigid Control Wings found on both the medial and lateral sides of the binding keep your boot centered in the harness for maximum responsiveness. The rotating flexibility of the toe cord allows your boot to pivot independently of the frame of the Frontier Women’s snowshoe, maximizing the penetration of the crampon in the snow base. The rotation also enables the tail to drop away from the binding as you hike, effectively shedding snow, reducing resistance and minimizing the fatigue associated with carrying the unnecessary weight of clinging snow.

The tapered frame of each Frontier Women’s snowshoe is constructed of sturdy 6000 series aluminum. The tapered tail and technical rise of the nose of the frame enhance balance and provide excellent flotation. These ergonomic features allow you to maintain your normal walking stride, increasing the maneuverability of Frontier Women’s snowshoes. Durable, lightweight and waterproof, DuraLight Decking provides dependable flotation (NOTE: A minimum base of 6"-8" of snow is suggested for usage in order to properly protect the integrity of the decking material.). Frontier Women’s snowshoes are outfitted with carbon steel toe and heel crampons that provide constant, dependable traction whether you're moving in an uphill, downhill or side hill direction.

All Tubbs snowshoes are sold in pairs.

Likes: Light weight. Pretty easy to get off and on. Good traction on moderate hills. We are new to snowshoeing so we don't have a lot to compare to.

Dislikes: Heel strap is a bit tricky to engage.
