Therm-a-Rest engineered the Trail Comfort line of self-inflating mattresses to be their warmest, most comfortable backpacking mattresses. These mattresses are light enough for backpacking on the trail, yet comfortable enough for base camp or car camping. Typical uses for the Trail Comfort mattress include all types of camping, paddling and backpacking.

Therm-a-Rest uses an expandable die-cut foam core to create a multi-purpose mattress that is lighter and packs smaller, yet at the same time is more comfortable and warmer than other designs.

The Therm-a-Rest Trail Comfort is self-inflating. When you unroll the pad and open the valve, the open-celled foam responds by soaking up air, similar to a sponge absorbing liquid. Self-inflation is what makes Therm-a-Rest mattresses easy to use and comfortable. Once the mattress has inflated, you can adjust the firmness by adding air or letting air out. It's that simple.
